I would use this book in my classroom to teach children about the importance of making the best of a bad situation, and when opportunity knocks, take advantage of it. Jack does both. When the beanstalk grows, he climbs and finds the giant's lair.
Fairy tales and fables are the types of literacy used in this story. Jack takes the cow into town and is offered magic beans in exchange for it. When his mother sees he's brought home beans instead of money, she throws the beans out the window and a great beanstalk grows into the clouds. Jack climbs the stalk in hopes of finding food.
I liked the part when the giants wife made him a lot of sausages to put him asleep.
An enjoyable version of the classic tale. I thought the illustrations were well done and the story was told in a way that is enjoyable for all readers. I especially liked how the wife of the giant was protecting Jack which was a twist I have never seen or read before.
Thee illustrations jump out in this classic book about a giant up on a bean stock and a boy named jack who believed in magic beans. It‘s good vs seemingly evil, but i always thought what the story might have been like if jack was friendlier to the giant.
This is only marginally book-related, but I'm producing an operatic adaptation of Jack & the Beanstalk for children, and tomorrow's our first performance. I can't wait to see a full house of young people experiencing theatre magic! (Pictured: my amazing Giant and his stilts.) #seemoretheatre #artseducation
Jack and the bean stalk is a famous Traditional Literature story. I‘m sure most of us grew up hearing this story being told many times. This book is great to use as a storytelling or read aloud book. There are many awesome activities I found for this book. The following website includes great activities for rhyming, learning beginning sounds, and syllables. https://www.pre-kpages.com/jack/
Does anyone else's library use Beanstack? I was looking for my library adult summer reading program and its online at Beanstack - I've never heard of this thing before! Anyone have any advice or know anything about it? It seems straightforward enough, but I'm curious about the platform.
Thanks!
I really do love my job. #Library #VolunteerAppreciation #OnceUponATime #ThatBeanstalkLife

Love that I'm instilling a love of books--and fairy tales--in my son. I hope he'll love them for many years to come!
