All right! Act IV is LONG my #shakespearereadalong friends! With many characters, some we've met, some we have not.
This week, casting is READER'S CHOICE! Do you have a perfect Polixenes? The right person for Florizell? An ideal Shepherd/clown? Pick one (or more), it's up to you!
Me, I'm casting Camillo, the savvy advisor. And perhaps it's typecasting, but I'm giving the role to Peter Dinklage.

Cathythoughts You knowledgeable Littens are having so much fun with this .... I‘m not involved, but it‘s a pleasure to watch 👍🏻♥️♥️♥️♥️ 6y

merelybookish You can never go wrong with Meryl! (You guys are really on it today!) 6y
Rachbb3 @merelybookish That's because as were reading were wondering which character you'll pick and we're assigning people in our heads. 😂😂😂 6y
GingerAntics Ooooooh this is another good one. Yes. 6y
Rachbb3 @merelybookish Also, put apostrophes in their correct places in my last comment. My dumb "smart" phone changed the words. ? 6y
merelybookish @Rachbb3 My phone does that too! It's super irritating!! 6y

Last year at this time I was re-reading Shakespeare's "The Winter'sTale." I find the play to be awkward in style (Comedy? Dark Comedy? Romance? Weird Romance?) and structure (the heaviness of Act IV throws the play out of balance.) Still, Judi Dench's portrayal of Paulina in Kenneth Branagh's production (2015-16 season) was grounded, focused, and brilliant. (Image; Detail from Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company promotional materials.) #TBT

SusanInTiburon I suspect that's why they're called "problem plays"? But Shakespeare manages to wring essential human emotions out of the most fantastical circumstances. Judi Dench was born for this stuff. 8y
LitHousewife I ❤ Judi Dench! 8y
