This is a true story about the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade. Tony was hired to help Macys out on a parade to help bring together traditions of many of he immigrants who worked there. Each year the parade grew, and after many years he came up with the giant parade balloons. It shows his process of trial and error

This is a children's literature biography published in 2011 that won the Golden Kite Award. This is a book about the man who started the Macys thanksgiving parade and I thought it is a great book. It is interesting to learn about how it started because it is a lot of peoples tradition to watch every year and i think it is an appropriate book for any elementary age level.

Heres a cute Bio about the puppeteer who helped the Macy‘s day parade come to life. “Balloons over Broadway”, it is a Caldecott Honor Winner by Melissa Sweet. It would be great to use around thanksgiving as I know a lot of students will have heard of the Macy‘s day parade. I found some resources that help this story to be together and then independently, it may be complex for some students but it is perfect for 1st-3rd grade!

This biography tells about how the Macy‘s Day Parade came to be and the mastermind puppeteer, Tony Sarge begins it all. This book is a very enlightened approach to all the obstacles Tony faced in making puppets for a parade. The author even adds a notes page at the end with pictures of Tony and his work.
