A Common Life
A Common Life: The Wedding Story | Jan Karon
7 posts | 14 read | 4 to read
Mitford's Lord's Chapel seats barely two hundred souls, yet millions of Jan Karon's fans will be there for the most joyful event in years: The wedding of Father Time Kavanagh and Cynthia Coppersmith. Here at last is A Common Life, and the long-awaited answers to these deeply probing questions: Will Father Time fall apart when he takes his vows? Will Cynthia make it to the church on time? Who'll arrange the flowers and bake the wedding cake? And will Uncle Billy's prayers for a great joke be answered in time for the reception? All the beloved Mitford characters will be there: Dooley Barlowe, Miss Sadie and Louella, Emma Newland, the mayor; in short, everybody who's anybody in the little town with the big heart. A Common Life is the perfect gift for Mother's Day, Father's Day, anniversaries, and for a bride or groom to give their beloved. In truth, it's perfect for anyone who believes in laughter, relies on hope, and celebrates love. Jan Karon says she writes "to give readers an extended family, and to applaud the extraordinary beauty of ordinary people living ordinary lives."

Been reading this series in order.... This title is listed as book #6; it is the Wedding of Father Timothy & Cynthia.... However, they are married in both book 4 & book 5??? Crazy.

Pickpick

I was a little shocked when The Mitford Years series went from a marriage proposal at the end of one book to married life in the next. This novella comes a few books later to fill in the gap. It was lovely seeing the details of the wedding come together. I loved how Karon added the perspectives of other villagers. It was great to have an insight on other characters relationships.

Lately things are stressful and out of control a visit back to Mitford is in order. The narrator of this, John McDunough, is fantastic. He sounds just like what I think Father Tim would sound like. Thank you Jan Karon, you are balm for the soul.

I read a Mitford book every Christmas. This one was short and sweet, and I loved how it delved briefly into the love stories of many of the townspeople. These are so cozy and I just love them.

A #photoadaynov16 catch-up. No furry #readingcompanion in our house, but my husband likes a good book as much as I do. Neither one of us actually got a lot of reading done on our trip, but we got home today, so it's back to regular routine.

Lynnsoprano @kmdartist @James @LiteraryinLititz I could only wish this was our house 😄This was the lodge owned by our DIL's boss. She got a week's free rental as part of her bonus, and we spent a family week there for Thanksgiving v 7y
