Harry Bosch has been given three years before he must retire from the LAPD, and he wants cases more fiercely than ever. In one morning, he gets two. DNA from a 1989 rape and murder matches a 29-year-old convicted rapist. Was he an eight-year-old killer or has something gone terribly wrong in the new Regional Crime Lab? The latter possibility could compromise all of the lab's DNA cases currently in court. Then Bosch and his partner are called to a death scene fraught with internal politics. Councilman Irvin Irving's son jumped or was pushed from a window at the Chateau Marmont. Irving, Bosch's longtime nemesis, has demanded that Harry handle the investigation. Relentlessly pursuing both cases, Bosch makes two chilling discoveries: a killer operating unknown in the city for as many as three decades, and a political conspiracy that goes back into the dark history of the police department.

#serieslove2023 Irvin Irving , often an adversary of Bosch requests him specifically to investigate the death of his son .Suicide or murder? Bosch is also working a cold case, DNA points to a suspect, but the age of the crime would mean the killer was a child . Was there a mix up at the lab? The way the stories weave together is well done,Bosch is up to his neck in what he calls High Jingo, politics & manipulation from all directions!

I love this series - guaranteed page-turner for me. Bosch investigates a cold case and an apparent suicide. As always no one comes out looking totally clean and politics and other motives abound.

I enjoyed this novel, but I don't have much to say about it as a book. The series seems to be evolving into something less like a series of interconnected standalone novels and more like one continuous story. There are things I find frustrating and/or annoying about this novel, but it seems premature to judge it based on things that might look different in the context of the overarching story, so I need to keep reading. Well played, Connelly.

Too tired to write a full review, but another solid book by Connelly. The Bosch series is a treat to read, even if I am doing it out of order. The one thing I will say is that the way the two cases in this book are seamlessly weaved together was genius and perfect. Bravo

Another solid addition to the Bosch series! This one circles around two very different cases - the apparent suicide of the son of Bosch's former nemesis in the department, and a cold case murder with a perplexing DNA hit. Both cases led to unexpected conclusions - very good!

Book #15 in the Harry Bosch series. While reading this I‘ve I realized how much better so many characters were portrayed on the tv show than in the books. This one is set 2 years after the previous & follows an open-unsolved with a cold hit with a twist as well as ropes Harry into an in depth investigation of Irvin Irving.

This 15th book in the Bosch series is definitely up there with my favorites! It combines two exciting plots - a cold case with puzzling DNA and a more political death of Irvin Irving‘s son. Bosch and his latest partner juggle the two as they both take unexpected twists! This isn‘t my favorite performance but it‘s not the worst either. I found myself listening to this at every opportunity and am excited to jump into the 16th one now! #AudioColoring

Book Sorting haul. Tagged book is signed. People donate some excellent stuff some weeks.
And then some weeks we get 47 books on running. Not even kidding.

I love Harry Bosch and the stories are usually great but I just found this one was a bit wishy washy and boring.
I did enjoy seeing more of Harry and Maddie's relationship but the main story was lazy for me. Good last 50-60 pages.

This doesn't impress me! If you are going to use real people in fictional books at least get the facts right 😒

Just finished. Just so-so. Two unrelated storylines going on and neither one delved into well enough. Not the greatest character or plot development. Definitely not one of my favorite Harry Bosch novels.

I may have failed utterly at the #SummerLovinReadathon this weekend, but I did manage to bosh out one book (see what I did, bosh, Bosch) This book sees Harry Bosch investigating two cases, one high profile case that the whole city is invested in, and another with multiple victims that nobody seems to care about.

Doing #litsypartyofone but not sure how much I'll get too since it's spring in Louisiana and that means allergies are in full bloom. So I went with something that won't need too much brainpower since my head is a bit fuzzy tonight.

Had to stay up late to finish this one! Couldn't put it down. Harry never gives up and will always find the truth. Everybody counts or nobody counts.

After 17 books I'm still enjoying Harry Bosch. I may even catch up with the series before a new book comes out later this year.
