Good story, I think I will read more!

My not so great February reading stats. I did read books not on my tbr. Some plans just go awry!!
This is an INTENSE thriller with a kick ass female main character whose job is to gather information for her clients. Vanessa Michael Munroe speaks 22 languages, can disguise herself as a man, and is lethal with a knife. As a result of a tumultuous upbringing in West Africa she is an emotional wreck, but kept mostly in check. She returns to Africa to search for a young lady who went missing 4 years ago. This is the first of a six book series.
Reading an interview of Roxane Gay in NYT and immediately checked out The Informationist through Overdrive. How did I never hear of the Vanessa Michael Munroe series before?
complex protagonist. amazing pacing. great start to her story.
I've never been a suspense/thriller reader, but when I had the chance to meet Taylor Stevens at a writer's conference, I took the chance. I didn't know what was missing from my life.
Thriller Audio I agree with some reviews that the main character is a carbon copy of Salander from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It's kind of like a plot born of Die Hard and Salander. Improbable, yes. Enjoyable, yes. Brain fluff, most assuredly. Will probably fill my waiting for my books on hold time with another in this series.
The first of a series - dark and violent and somewhat unbelievable but that's all part of the fun. The main character is a badass, kinda like Charlize Theron in Mad Max.
When Roxane Gay says a thriller is 'absolutely absorbing,' you queue it up next on Overdrive.
Action packed just not my thing. Essa/Vanessa/Michael is just too perfect for me.
