Kale to the Queen: A Kensington Palace Chef Mystery
Kale to the Queen: A Kensington Palace Chef Mystery | Nell Hampton
8 posts | 8 read | 4 to read
Chef Carrie Ann Cole is about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime--an assignment as the new Personal Chef to the Royal Family at Kensington Palace. But no sooner has Carrie Ann touched down across the pond and donned her apron than a dead body crops up beneath the royal kale beds. With one assistant dead and the other soon under suspicion for his murder, Carrie Ann is scrambling to keep her kitchen up and running. Not to mention she gets off to an immediate bad start with the tempestuous Royal Chef Butterbottom, who has a bitter taste in his mouth since the prestigious position in the Royal Family's kitchen was given to an "over-privileged, under-educated American chef." But the Royal Family's appetites wait for no one, and Carrie Ann must solve the murder and still get supper on the table on time--even with the annoyingly handsome Head of Security Ian Gordon tracking her every move like an MI6 agent. Suspects abound as an American chef adds a bit of spice to the traditional royal household in the first in Nell Hampton's charming and tasty Kensington Palace Chef Mystery series, Kale to the Queen.

45 more minutes of volunteering at the bookstore, good thing I brought a backup for the backup book I brought! It‘s so dead in here, I could have stayed home! 🤷🏻‍♀️ #volunteerlife

My favorite cozy series is Julie Hyzy's White House Chef Mysteries, and I was hoping for a similar feel with this one. Unfortunately, it lacked most of the charm of those books. It wasn't bad, just not as good as I'd hoped it would be. I'd still read more in the series, but I won't go out of my way to do so.

ohyeahthatgirl I love seeing these punny titles while ebook shopping for my library. 6y
Traci1 @ohyeahthatgirl I love them too. 6y

Just finished this cozy mystery by Nell Hampton. I found this book to be very entertaining! I really enjoyed the setting in England. I haven‘t read any cozies set in different countries, so this was a nice change. I received the second book in the series to read and review so I‘m super excited to start it!

Traci1 The concept of this one sounds sort of like the White House Chef Mysteries. I'd recommend those if you like cozies and haven't already read them. 7y
NikkiKey94 @Traci1 I love cozies and I haven‘t read those! I will definitely look into them! Thanks for the recommendation! 7y
Traci1 State of the Onion is the first one, and the author is Julie Hyzy. It's my favorite cozy series. ☺ 7y
NikkiKey94 @Traci1 I‘ve actually heard about those but haven‘t gotten around to reading them! Definitely adding them to my tbr list! 7y

Uh! If I hadn't received this from NetGalley in exchange for a review I would have given up on it. It was a horrible mess. The author couldn't keep her own charcters straight, and it was very obvious she had never been to England. I was highly disappointed.
