Welcome to 1984 and the town of South Wakefield. Chris Lane is 14 and he's sure that he can see the future, or at least guess what's inside of Christie Brinkley's mind. But he can't foresee the closing of Joyland, the towns only video arcade. With the arcades passing comes a summer of teenage lust, violence, and a search for new entertainment. Never far away is Chriss younger sister, Tammy, who plays spy to the events that will change the lives of her family and town forever. Joyland is a novel about the impossibility of knowing the future. Schultz bring the Cold War home in a novel set to the digital pulse of video games and the echoes of hair metal. Joyland is illustrated throughout by graphic novelist Nate Powell, whose work has been praised by Sin City creator Frank Miller as observant, intimate cartooning [that] surgically cuts to the bone.

I'm so excited to have the chance to rep for http://litjoycrate.com for the month of January!

Without giving away spoilers I would like to give some general praise - it is so nice to have a box with no paper items! ?

Overall this box has fewer items, but of much higher quality, I ❤️them, and they fit the theme ?

You can get 15% off your first order using the code "NOVEL15" ?

Bostonmomx2 I wish I could afford alllll the boxes 😉😊 8y
Suzze @Bostonmomx2 Me too! They all sound great. I can't afford the few I do get. 😁 8y
NovelPairing @Bostonmomx2 @suzze I feel you both! There are so many great book boxes and I want to have them all! I wish I had endless $$ for them. It has been really interesting to me to try a few different ones and see/realize that shine in very different ways. Ha. I feel like I need to make a list of what I love most about book boxes and then find the right subscription based off that 😁 do either of you have a favorite? 8y
Suzze @NovelPairing I'm not sure I've found the right one yet. Some are too geared towards YA, which I like but don't want to focus on. Some are too current and popular so send books I already have. I just got my first Once Upon a Book, we'll see how that goes. I also like my signed monthly first edition from Literati bookstore, especially as they tell me a few months ahead what the book will be so I don't buy it beforehand. 8y
Bostonmomx2 @NovelPairing I did the bookworm box for 2 months and cancelled because a) the cost and b) the books weren't doing it for me. I then tried the beaulitful box and have gotten it twice now and looooved it. Both times the books were either 4 or 5 stars for me. Only one book plus a few goodies but the price is affordable (a little over $30 with shipping). 8y
