Silken Prey
Silken Prey: A Lucas Davenport Novel | John Sandford
3 posts | 9 read | 5 to read
Murder. Scandal. Politics. And one billionaire heiress so dangerous in so many ways. An explosive Lucas Davenport thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author John Sandford. All hell has broken loose in the capital. An influential state senator has been caught with something very, very nasty on his office computer. The governor can’t believe it—the senator’s way too smart for that, even if he is from the other party. Something’s not right. As Davenport investigates, the trail leads to a political fixer who has disappeared, then—troublingly—to the Minneapolis police department itself, and most unsettling of all, to a woman who could give Machiavelli lessons in manipulation. She has very definite ideas about the way the world should work—along with the money, ruthlessness, and cold-blooded will to make it happen. From the Paperback edition.

Nasty political high jinx end in murder. A fun side twist. Good read.

The first part of the story was a little boring, but it picked up during the second half. I really like this series and the dry humor and sarcasm always makes me laugh out loud. I've been trying to get to this book since June 2018 so I'm glad I finally found time to read it.

Child porn was found on a computer of a politician up for re-election. Lucas is called in by the sitting governor to figure it out because he's known this politician for all these years (on opposite parties) and doesn't believe it of him, nor does he believe the guy is stupid enough to have it on that computer.

Fast paced!
