Case of the Velvet Claws: A Perry Mason Mystery #1
Case of the Velvet Claws: A Perry Mason Mystery #1 | Erle Stanley Gardner
4 posts | 2 read | 1 to read
Criminal lawyer and bestselling mystery author Erle Stanley Gardner wrote nearly 150 novels that have sold 300 million copies worldwide. Now, the American Bar Association is bringing back his most famous and enduring novels featuring criminal defense lawyer and sleuth Perry Mason in striking trade paperback editions. Married Eva Griffin has been caught with a prominent congressman, and is ready to pay the editor of a sleazy tabloid hush money to protect the politician. But first Perry Mason tracks down the publisher of the blackmailing tabloid and discovers a shocking secret, which eventually leads to Mason being accused of murder. This is the first Perry Mason mystery and our introduction to secretary Della Street, detective Paul Drake, and the great lawyer himself."

Raymond Burr was gay? This makes the fourth Gay Hunk that I've crushed on 😂🤔, I blame those stunning eyes of his.

How have I been a fan for so long and not known about this fact?

I found it tragic that Burr had to hide his relationship with his partner, of 35+ years, Robert Benevides.

As a Perry Mason fan, I want to publicly post a toast to the actor who made the Perry Mason character a Hollywood legend and the one who was his partner.

👇

AnnCrystal Raymond Burr and Robert Benevides, may you two have reunited in the hereafter and discovered that your love for each other remains alive. May the two of you forevermore be happy together.

I hope to one day visit the vineyard you began as a couple, and (even though I don't drink) properly sip a toast to you both with Raymond Burr wine.

Alway a fan 🥂💝.

dabbe Love him and wish he could have been out in the open. People should be free to love on their own terms and now have to be secret about it. 🌈 1w

AnnCrystal @kspenmoll 👏🏼🥳📺💝. Love that. I introduced Perry Mason to my mom, we both just love his show no matter how many times we've watched each episode before 📺💝. 1w
AnnCrystal @dabbe Truly. I found it tragic that he had to lie and make up stories about his personal life.

He gifted us with his incredible acting talent 🏆🎭 and I can't believe how he would have been lost to Hollywood if people had known back then.

MaGoose I'm watching the original Perry Mason series on CBS All-Access. I'll have to check out the modern series. Sorry, I don't like Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock - liked him as Dr. Strange, though. 5y
