The Mad Scientist's Guide to World Domination
The Mad Scientist's Guide to World Domination: Original Short Fiction for the Modern Evil Genius | John Joseph Adams
8 posts | 5 read | 1 reading | 8 to read
From Victor Frankenstein to Lex Luthor, from Dr. Moreau to Dr. Doom, readers have long been fascinated by insane plans for world domination and the madmen who devise them. Typically, we see these villains through the eyes of good guys. This anthology, however, explores the world of mad scientists and evil geniusesfrom their own wonderfully twisted point of view. An all-star roster of bestselling authorsincluding Diana Gabaldon, Daniel Wilson, Austin Grossman, Naomi Novik, and Seanan McGuire...twenty-two great storytellers all toldhave produced a fabulous assortment of stories guaranteed to provide readers with hour after hour of high-octane entertainment born of the most megalomaniacal mayhem imaginable. Everybody loves villains. They're bad; they always stir the pot; they're much more fun than the good guys, even if we want to see the good guys win. Their fiendish schemes, maniacal laughter, and limitless ambition are legendary, but what lies behind those crazy eyes and wicked grins? Howand whydo they commit these nefarious deeds? And why are they so set on taking over the world? If you've ever asked yourself any of these questions, you're in luck: It's finally time for the madmen's side of the story.

This was a very fun story collection! Like all collections some stories were better than others but I enjoyed all of them.

Maude I realize I may be biased as I work in a lab and am a bit of a mad scientist myself 😄 3mo
KathyWheeler My husband was a physicist before he retired. I must get him this book! 3mo

Between a pick and a so-so for me, this collection of short stories will probably thoroughly appeal to fans of mad scientists. I liked some but some left me cold. A reviewer friend lent this to me literally years ago. It‘s outside my wheelhouse so I haven‘t picked it up and had no idea how to return it without reading it. So, as one of my reading resolutions this year (returning books to their rightful owners), I‘m going to give it a whirl and then surprise the heck out of her by returning it. (She probably doesn‘t even remember I have it it‘s been so long.)

1) I‘m a simple girl, I‘ll just take the ability to run fast or time slowing abilities.
2) I think I‘d enjoy partying with hobbits.
3) Gandalf. For the same reason as the hobbits mostly. And he‘d save me a fortune on fireworks for the 4th of July.

#shortstories These are a couple of my favorite books of short stories. The Mad Scientist's Guide is hilarious kinda in a dark Pinky and the Brain kind of way. It's my favorite. This is 17 year old Nikie napping on my bed 😻😴🤓📚😀 #catsoflitsy

Zelma The mad scientist book looks interesting! And 😻 8y
