Rereading this amazing graphic novel from Jonathan Hickman. Do I love this series? Does Death ride a mechanical horse searching for his son in the desert? Yes, he does. And yes, I do!

Great action. Great character development. A man on a quest to rescue his son from fanatics trying to bring about Armageddon. So much grotesque imagery. Hickman's storytelling and Dragotta's art are mesmerizing.

Our shelter in place order has officially started. I was able to make one last run to Chicago Comics before it went into effect—wanted to show them a little more love & stock up on a few comics—& they had to close. So, lots of East of West & Vol. 2 of Sex Criminals which is over-the-top, ridiculously funny. The shop was also kind enough to throw in a few extra comics (Jenny Sparks) which was awesome. It‘s been a day of puzzles, Legos & reading.

4/5👏🏻. Seems to be picking. Likes it enough to go onto volume three!

Volume two sucked me deeper into the story. I‘m not exactly sure where this is going, but I‘d love to find out.

This struck me as kind of hilarious. Not sure why.

Onto Vol 2!

This second volume of East of West doesn't "Wow!" me as much as the first volume, but the quality of the story, world, and art remains excellent. You can feel the story building to something epic, but this volume doesn't provide that payoff. The best part of this volume is Death's encounter with the Oracle. Nick Dragotta's rendering of her makes her a truly twisted creation. I hope future volumes will show her backstory in greater detail.

For the first time, I'm struck by the design of the triangle. Is it made from four triangles to symbolize the Four Horsemen? And does that make the center triangle Death, the one going against the other three? I'm enjoying this series. I do have to go back and review pages at times because there is a lot going on. I have the next two volumes on deck so maybe reading them back to back will help. Also, I'm really interested in Crow and would like to see more about her. 4⭐

Once again hoping the library won't let me down.

It was good. I keep enjoying the story and where it is going. But I sometimes feel the writers want the dialogue and narrative to be overly complicated. I did enjoy the development of the characters seen on this second volume. Will continue!
