pickLondon in the 1850´s. Mary comes to London to work as a maid. She becomes embroiled in the Pre-Raphaelite art scene and re-invents herself as Persephone becoming the muse of a talented painter. We are given glimpses into both Londons art scene and the world of the maids. Despite being 400 pages long it felt short. Mary is a great character surrounded by an array of fleshed out side characters. Definitely recommended!
Isn't this a beautiful cover? It's about a servant girl who becomes a model for pre-Raphaelite artists and has to keep it secret from her employers.
