#rocktober #theunforgiven

Not going to spoil this for anyone who hasn‘t read it or seen the movie (but GO read it, it‘s amazing) - so just to say this whole book is about whether we can forgive another, or atone for a terrible mistake and earn forgiveness.

I struggle to forgive a character in this book!

robinb I saw the movie....not sure I could make it through the book! 😳 7y
Natasha.C.Barnes @robinb That's how I feel too! 7y
robinb The movie really haunted me... 7y

Centique @robinb oh yes it gives you lots of feelings for sure! The book I think was more intense than the movie - but then I read it first so maybe that‘s why. 7y
BarbaraBB Perfect pick as well! 7y
Cinfhen I've only seen the film...and I didn't love it 😞I need to try the book! #BooksAreBetter 7y
LeahBergen I adore this book. ❤️ 7y
Centique @LeahBergen I remember finishing it and being desperate to talk to someone about how it ended 😨💕 7y
Centique @Cinfhen brilliant hashtag! 7y
Cinfhen Thanks! It's the truth💚 7y
TheBookStacker My favorite of his books I think 7y
Centique @TheBookStacker I don‘t think I‘ve read any of his others. Any recommendations? 7y
TheBookStacker I enjoyed The Children Act, and I was so so about Nutshell, and I loved Amsterdam mainly because I love Amsterdam! 7y
Centique @TheBookStacker oh good, Amsterdam is on my TBR. I‘ve only spent a couple of days there but the bit I saw was so beautiful. Have to get back there! 7y

For me Lee Child is #theunforgiven for allowing the film studios to cast Tom Cruise (5 foot 7 inches) for Jack Reacher (6 Foot 5 inches), and it says so at the front of each Jack Reacher book. I still refuse to see the films as not fitting with the character he created, and I even stopped reading the books for a couple of years - although books so good I have now put them back on probation. However, they are still out on licence. 😂#rocktober

DGRachel Did Lee Child have input into the casting? I know John Sandford has no say in casting based on any of his books and I'm pretty sure Anne Rice had no say in casting for Interview with the Vampire. 7y
Andrew65 @DGRachel Most probably not as I'm sure the studios tied it up so tightly, but he and his agents should have negotiated this before signing off or walking away. But suppose it is difficult to walk away from the opportunity! And yes of course I live in a naive world! 😂🤣😂 7y
DGRachel I just know that a lot of authors, especially of series that have been around for a long time, struck deals earlier in their careers that give them little to no say. When Sandford sold the rights to the Prey series, it included all the characters, even if they were in non-Prey books. Essentially, he sold the rights to almost all of his books, because the characters cross over series. I think authors are more savvy now. 7y

Andrew65 @DGRachel Fair comment. 😊Okay Lee, Rachel has convinced me that you shouldn't be blamed. So now film studios are #theunforgiven. 😂 7y
TrishB Tom Cruise as Reacher or Lestat is just wrong!! @DGRachel does a good job of defending the author 👍 7y
Andrew65 @TrishB @DGRachel Most Definitely and I went along with her in the end. 😊 (edited) 7y
Leftcoastzen Most authors say you take the check and put up with what happens .Unless author has clauses or is day to day in the process.I always pictured Reacher looking a lot like Lee Child but military buff, thought Cruise was a poor choice. 7y
Cinfhen I like your amendment, Andrew! Film studios can really screw things up! And I agree, poor casting is unforgivable 😬 7y
BarbaraBB 😂😂 well played! 7y
BarbaraBB When I was in Colombia this summer all locals were angry that in the Netflix series Narcos Pablo Escobar is starred by a tall actor while he was 1.50 meter in real life! 7y
Andrew65 @BarbaraBB They do make some ridiculous choices, like when they change stories too. 7y

The Fishermen: A Novel | Chigozie Obioma
post image

Told from the view point of nine year old Benjamin, this is a story about #theunforgiven brother, a family falling apart and just how fragile blood bonds can actually be. At the same time, Nigeria is falling apart and being build up again, while the four brothers are doing their best to keep each other safe and together.

I seriously can't recommend this highly enough, so go go go and read this! 👌

Kalalalatja @CuriousG don't we all! #goals 🙏🙏🙏 7y
Kalalalatja @Cinfhen I agree - I'm still amazed that it was a debut novel. I can't wait to read what Obioma comes out with next! 7y
Kalalalatja @minkyb @Tamra @BarbaraBB it was one of my favourite books of last year. I will not to gush about it more, so you don't feel too pressured into reading it. But.. you should.. 😄😄 7y
maich You remind me of my sister. Her name is Katja and she's obsessed with cactus😂😂 7y

@Cinfhen @BarbaraBB
Mr Rothfuss is definitely the unforgiven! How long will the final book take!

Balibee146 Also how loooooong will the final book be? 😄😎 7y
TrishB @Balibee146 I'd take anything at the moment! 1000 pages should tie it all up 😀 7y
Cinfhen Yikes!!! #BigBookMonitorAlert @minkyb it's over 1000 pages!!!!!! 7y
See All 27 Comments
Balibee146 We should have a guess the page count competition.... I'll guess 1387 7y
AceOnRoam 1100p 7y
AceOnRoam At this stage I would be happy with 200 or 2000, just write the damned book! 7y
DuckOfDoom I thought it's going to be five books🤔 7y
TrishB @AceOnRoam absolutely 👍 7y
TrishB @DuckOfDoom seriously? Never going to be finished now!! 7y
AceOnRoam I won't live that long @DuckOfDoom 😣 7y
julesG @DuckOfDoom Did I miss the article about him living forever? Is he a dwarf? An elf? Immortal? 7y
DuckOfDoom @TrishB @AceOnRoam I am hoping he just writes all books and then releases them on a yearly basis... no matter what, I believe he will finish it 😄 the 3rd one seems to be pretty far along, he hosted a Q&A on twitch some months ago 7y
julesG @Balibee146 Okay, my guess: 1597 pages plus an extended epilogue and several novellas. 7y
AceOnRoam I hope you are right @DuckOfDoom Fingers crossed ! 7y
AceOnRoam I love those covers @TrishB 💜💜💜 7y
Balibee146 @julesG good guessing I suspect.... 7y
Balibee146 Here's the thing.. I do like the books but I found myself enjoying the present day interludes in the tavern the best..... That was kinda annoying 🤔😋 7y
minkyb @TrishB Do you lug these tomes to the office or keep them next to your bed for steps and night time reading? Good job #BigBookMonitor @Cinfhen 7y
TrishB @julesG 😂😂 7y
TrishB @Balibee146 I know what you mean! 7y
TrishB @minkyb could be steps as I'm only little! I have a separate tote bag just for my current read that I lug about 😀 7y
Caroline2 Ohhhhhh what lovely front covers!! 😍 7y
Karkar Oh those covers are the best!!!!! 7y
Kammbia1 Excellent covers. Love the Name of the Wind. Still have to read Wise Man's Fear. Looking forward to reading it. 7y

An utterly creepy illustration of Arachne, a weaver, who because of her hubris was punished by Athena to take on the form of a spider and weave eternally. Just one in a long line of mortals unforgiven by the gods.

Illustration by Gustave Doré in Dante's Purgatorio 12.

#theunforgiven #Rocktober @BarbaraBB @Cinfhen

Cathythoughts That IS one creepy illustration 😱 7y
britt_brooke Creepy, but kind of awesome. 7y

eanderson Yep, that is creepy! I can‘t do spiders and that one makes my skin crawl! 7y
batsy @eanderson @Suet624 I know, right! But I can't stop looking 😅 7y
