panI was not expecting to lose interest so fast in this title, but I couldn‘t connect with the characters and didn‘t feel they were well-developed, which is what I love about her other books. Disappointed.

Brutus is excited that I read for 5 hours 15 minutes during #8intwo and I‘m so glad I used that time to read this weekend. Excited for the next #readathon in July!
I picked this book up from the library a few days ago and so far its a little confusing (maybe it's the third person pov) but I have high hopes.
pickI listened to The Whole Thing Together and really enjoyed the character development and the story. I had an idea of how I hoped it would end and the author really threw me for a loop. Not how I was hoping it would end, but still an enjoyable read (or in my case, listen).

Brashares' poetic style enchants, but the plot falls short. Two step children on two sides of a mixed family engage in a strange "will they?/ won't they?" and nine other indiscernible characters do things. Not for me. Instead, I'll steer my students towards Sisterhood and my friends towards The Last Summer. #YALit

currently going through what's currently left of my summer (er, june) reading list 📚 first up, the whole thing together. ann brashares killed me through all the sisterhood books, and i have no doubt that she'll kill me again 💕
pickI enjoyed this story of dysfunctional mixed and broken families. It has family secrets & feuds plus some emotional scenes. Themes of self-identity and seeing yourself as separate from your parents. Not the best book ever, but a 3.5 or so. The audiobook was nicely read by Brittany Pressley--again I'd give her performance a 3.5: decent characterizations and pleasing level of expression.

so-soMixed bag - I enjoyed the setting, family secrets, and a few of the characters. I struggled with the amount of characters (confusing!) and how, essentially, the book was about rich people behaving badly. It got old quickly. Frankly, I expected more from Brashares.
It's spring break which means entertaining my daughter and a friend with a trip to an indoor pool. I'm taking this free time seriously and reading the new Ann Brashares novel.
