This book had been on my radar for a while, so I was excited when my turn at the library finally came up. I think this is one I would have enjoyed more in print than as an audio book because so much happened. The book told the story of two families over many, many years and moved back and forth between past and present so it would have been helpful to flip back at times.

I enjoyed the premise of the book and the pace, but I was disappointed that the main character wasn‘t stronger. She seemed to wandering through life and I wanted her to get it together at some point. Overall, I would give this book 3.5/5.

I read the first book in this series on NYE and read the second book today. I enjoyed reading about one of the country‘s first female deputy sheriffs. I especially liked the author‘s description of what was fact and what she imagined at the end. What a clever concept for a series! Can‘t wait to read more about Constance Kopp and her sisters!

Book 5 in the Sleuth Sisters mysteries was just as good as the others. It takes place on the Leelanau Peninsula, just north of Traverse City- cherry capital of the world! Again, I‘m probably wooed by the Michigan setting, but if you like a cozy mystery, you‘ll enjoy this series.

This is book 4 in the Sleuth Sisters mysteries and it was a quick, entertaining read. The chapters alternate between the three sisters as they work to solve a mystery and navigate their lives. I may be a bit biased, as it takes place in northern Michigan and I‘ll always be a Michigan girl, but I enjoy this series.

This was an audio book and the reader was great. But I just didn‘t like this book. It came off as preachy instead of relying on the story to carry a message. We got to know the main character, but the other characters weren‘t very developed. The people in the town weren‘t painted in a very good light and they needed rescuing from the big city lawyer. Not my favorite Grisham novel.

Wow. Just wow. There‘s a reason this was the Goodreads YA best book of 2017. It‘s relevant. It makes you think. And it‘s just good writing.

I couldn‘t get into it. I didn‘t care for the main character or her friends and family. The concept was cheesy and it just didn‘t connect with me. Hopefully Lucy figures it all out, but I bailed so I‘ll never know...

This is a cute book that‘s a little different from other YA books. It takes place in the 1700s and follows two best friends and a sister as they stumble through their Tour of the continent. I‘m looking forward to reading Lee‘s next book!

I was working at my first job at a bookstore when this book came out, but I had never read it. My mom requested a list of “clean” books and this was on a goodreads list, so I told her we should both read it. I finished it the next evening, and she had yet to download it :) I found it to be a quirky, quick read and I‘ve already requested the 2nd book from the library!

79... not bad considering i read fewer books when i‘m taking classes! if only academic journals counted...

I wanted to love this book because it‘s John Green and because it‘s topic that needs to be talked about, mental health. Green does a great job of describing the pain Aza is going through. He is able to let the reader peek inside her head and experience a small part of what Aza‘s life is like. The book is not very plot driven, however. There is a story of love & friendship, & even a mystery, but they aren‘t developed as much as I would have liked.

I listened to a lot of audiobooks while I worked this summer and I recently finished Geekerella. I enjoyed this modern take on Cinderella and loved all the geekiness and fan girl elements- especially since I'm a total geek too :)

I loved this book and read it in one sitting! What a perfect way to end my summer- a beautiful Labor Day by the pool, an ice cold coke, and a great book :)

I'm going to be honest... I hated this book. Perhaps it was because I could not relate to the main character or maybe it was because I didn't like the main character at all. Regardless of the reason. I gave this book a chance but had to bail.

I listened to Fans of the Impossible Life and really enjoyed it. Three people voiced the three narrators, and it made for a really good telling of this story! Anyone who had trouble finding their place while navigating the social complexities of high school will be able to relate this book.

I listened to The Whole Thing Together and really enjoyed the character development and the story. I had an idea of how I hoped it would end and the author really threw me for a loop. Not how I was hoping it would end, but still an enjoyable read (or in my case, listen).

Just finished listening to A Grown-up Kind of Pretty and I'm having a hard time deciding which Joshilyn Jackson book is my favorite! This story is told through three voices, daughter, mother, and grandmother. It is full of surprises and will bring both tears to your eyes and smiles!

I enjoy a light-hearted romantic story once in a while, but this was much darker than I had anticipated. Mila is running from her past so she takes a job as a home health care aide to Reid, who is horribly depressed after an accident. While I felt for Mila, I had a hard time relating to Reid, as he wasn't a nice person before the accident, wasn't being nice now, and yet I was sure he'd end up being the hero and saving helpless Mila.

Mrs. Saint and the Defectives is the story of Markie, a recently divorced mother. From the moment she moves into her rented house, nosy Mrs. Saint is making suggestions and sending her employees to help Markie, despite her protests. Markie views Mrs. Saint as bossy and intrusive, and is determined to stand on her own. Mrs. Saint and her defectives have a few secrets and Markie's curiosity inches her closer to becoming a member of this community.

Spent a perfect summer day with characters from Almost Sisters by Joshilyn Jackson, one of my favorite authors! The book started a bit slow, but picked up around the middle, and had a strong finish. I highly recommend it!

I listened to The One Memory of Flora Banks and while I found it interesting, I also found it a bit tedious at times. 17 yr old Flora has amnesia and her memory only lasts for a few hours, so every time Flora learns of her condition, we read it too. She can remember before she got sick, but nothing new, until something happens that she can hold onto. Now Flora will do anything to chase that memory and I found myself cheering her on.

Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen is a coming of age tale that, and you know this right off the bat, will eventually succeed in making you cry. I love it when a book elicits emoticon, whether it's tears or LOLing. I started it this morning at the pool and by the time I was finishing it up at home I had a smile on my face and a hankering for a dilly bar.

All-American themed book club! Hot dog bar, potato salad, watermelon, and apple pie! I enjoyed Alex & Eliza, but there were parts that dragged and seemed unnecessary. If anything, the book succeeded most with making me want to see Hamilton even more. Book club goes to broadway???

I think I set a new record by reading our new book club selection within two days of choosing it. One of Us is Lying is described as Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars, so I was looking forward to reading it. I really intended to just preview it, but once I started reading it I just kept reading. And before I knew it, I was done!

Americanah is type of book that makes you think. It moves at a fast pace, which made me want to keep reading so I could find out what happened next. I was rooting for the main characters throughout the entire book!

I was fortunate to receive an advanced copy of this book. It's a quick read and I enjoyed learning about Krista and her life. The book takes place 2 years after a family tragedy and explores how Krista is coping. She believes everyone has moved on but her, and she's having a hard time with their decisions. Krista's feelings and frustration come through as we learn more about the tragedy. It's a good read for YA going through tough times.

Listening to Alex & Eliza... So far so good!

I've read Jennifer Niven's more recent YA novels, so when I saw she had an older series I just had to read it. I was surprised and delighted by this historical fiction book and couldn't put it down! I'm going to try to track down the short movie she made that inspired this book!
