This book is so much more than recounting how two Canadians discovered stem cells yet still lack the recognition they deserve. It's also an inspiration for the younger generation of scientists trying to better understand our world, our biology, and our disease. There's glimpses of hope for what we can accomplish, not only with our knowledge of stem cells, but with all the discoveries still to come from the great minds in this country and beyond.

Until I read this book, I did not know of the two men who contributed to my survival. 25yrs ago, a bone marrow transplant saved my life. I think this is one of the reasons why this book resonates with me so much. I know not everyone will appreciate this book on he same level as me, but still, this book is full of wisdom and hope for the future.

The view out my window this morning. Umm...guys? I think I'll go back to bed and read until the snow melts.
For anyone even remotely interested in scientific research, this book is amazing. Not only is it an account of a who's who of Canadian stem cell research, but it reminds us people doing the work why we slug through all the failures and disappointments that come with a life in academic research.

I've always believed that keeping my eyes and mind open in science is essential and makes for the best scientists. In reality, the original hypothesis is often wrong, but maybe we can still learn something.
Somehow I think this bit of wisdom might apply to the rest of our lives as well. This book is so full of inspiration. Loving it!
