pickThis book is amazing! It‘s the diary of a rich Jewish girl in Austria when Hitler took over. It tells about how she went from rich to poor and how everyone who knew her treated her different. She also talks about how because she looks Aryan, people who don‘t know her treat her like any “normal” person. She has to move to New York with her aunt because it‘s safer.

This book was a reread, one of my favorite Dear America books. The girl, Julie, lives through the Anschluss, but not everyone in her Jewish family is so lucky. This book was devastating to read, but so important. 5/5
