Born in Baltimore in 1915, and dead too early in New York in 1959, Billie Holiday became a legendary jazz singer, even mythical. With her voice even now managing to touch so many people, we follow a reporter on the trail of the artist on behalf of a New York daily. Beyond the public scandals that marred the life of the star (alcohol, drugs, violence...), he seeks to restore the truth, revisiting the memory of Billie. Sadly, the only good thing about this book is it only took me half an hour to read. Storyline was confusing.

This graphic novel about Billie Holiday was such a disappointment to me. It was hard to follow and focused mainly on all the negative aspects of her life/career. I didn't actually learn anything new about her - and if I didn't already know something about her this would be an even more confusing introduction. I wanted this to be so much better than it turned out to be.

Whoo boy, this was dark. Not that easy to follow the panels or story? It flashed back and forth in time, and though the black and white art was really cool it was not always the easiest to tell what was happening. A short biography of Billie Holiday, mostly dwelling on drugs, drinking, rape, humiliation. Hard to read in multiple ways. Book 6 of #24in48 #readathon
