Rise of Barack Obama
Rise of Barack Obama | Pete Souza
2 posts | 1 read | 2 to read
Award-winning photojournalist, Pete Souza, documents the meteoric rise of the charismatic Barack Obama from his first day in the U.S. Senate right up to the Pennsylvania presidential primary. More than 80% of these candid and stunning photographs capturing private and political moments have not been seen before. Souza provides extended commentary about each photo to place it in context, and describe the scene and participants. Photo-by-photo the viewer is allowed to examine the senator and candidate's path to the very cusp of history.

Finally got around to seeing this! There was a long line to get an unobstructed view/picture, so I just snuck up the side because who had time for that? 🤷🏼‍♀️ I miss Obama so much. 😭😭😭

Wonderwoman89 I‘m going to DC the end of May. What are some places you recommend 6y
erinreads @Wonderwoman89 All of the Smithsonian museums on the mall are free, so that is a must! I love the American History, Air & Space, and the National Gallery of Art the most. The weather will be great for the Zoo as well (also free!). For a good downtown DC experience, I recommend Dupont Circle. A lot of great restaurants, shops, and fun things to do! 6y
Wonderwoman89 Thank you @erinreads We are also bringing our 6 year old grandson. He is so excited to see the White House where all the Presidents live. 6y
shutterbug_mama I almost went there today to see this too but we talked ourselves out of it due to the cherry blossom crowds. Maybe next weekend! I can‘t wait to see it and the Sylvia Plath exhibit. 6y

Pickpick

I pre-ordered Souza's forthcoming book about Obama; but wanted to read this one first. I prefer candid photography of people, so I generally enjoy Souza's work.
