Long day with lots of reading time...unfortunately I “hate read” this book. I would have bailed but it was the ONLY book I had with me so it was completed by default😖Meant to be an Italian thriller this book was dull, bleak and emotionally flat. I wonder if the book lost its flavor in the translation. A son reflects back on the summer when his dad was accused of two crimes. Part of my frustration is you‘re told the “truth” early on 👇🏼

Cinfhen So there is really no surprises! Book was a gift from @Cathythoughts sorry, it wasn‘t a win for me but I love that you thought of me 😘😘 #VacationReads #Santorini 6y
Cinfhen Consolation , book is set in Italy and written by an Italian author so it works for my #BackPackEurope #Italy 😍😍 @JenP (edited) 6y
LeahBergen That view! You lucky duck! 😘 6y

Cathythoughts Oh dear 😳😬. Dosnt sound good 👎🏻. One out of 2 ain‘t bad , as they say ! At least you liked Heartburn. .... are you in Santorini?! Crete & Santorini are heaven on earth IMO 💙💚❤️ 6y
Cinfhen I LOVED Heartburn and just disappointed because I was looking forward to this one☹️ took a ferry to Santorini for the day @Cathythoughts but now I‘m back on Crete 💛💛💛 6y
Cinfhen The views were really awesome @LeahBergen BUT I felt like Santorini was one HUGE tourist trap 🙄😬😪 6y
merelybookish If you have to hate read, you should do it with an amazing view! 6y

CoffeeAndABook Sorry your book was a disappointment!! That view would certainly make up for it though! *** Hope you have many more books stacked on Crete!! We‘re coming out to Crete in four weeks!! What a bummer that we‘re not there at the same time!!! We could have had a fun get-together 🍷☀️ Have a fabulous time 🤗 6y
erzascarletbookgasm Awesome view to make up for it. Crete and Santorini? 💙💙 6y

If Joyce Carol Oates were Italian she'd be writing gripping thrillers like this! A coming of age story and mystery about an abducted girl combined.

#bookmail I won a paperback copy of this ARC a while ago but also received a hardback copy in the post this morning! I'm assuming it's now been released in English today ❤️📚

LeahBergen They sent you a hardcover, too? Nice! 7y
Cathythoughts Cathythoughts @DeborahSmall I loved Eleanor Oliphant. I asked a Skottish friend living in Ireland ,what's "hen" & she said it's what we all call women. I love my friend, I love you Scottish I'm in Ireland, not so far away I'm loving Litsy 7y
DeborahSmall @Cathythoughts I hated getting called 'hen' growing up. Can be seen as endearing but a taunt if you're arguing. If my gran called me hen when I was a child it was fine but if someone my age said it to me it could cause an argument. Mostly a Glaswegian saying 7y
Cathythoughts @DeborahSmall Thankyou , that is enlightening about "hen " 7y
