Not as good as Infomacracy - the first book in he series - but still a good read. It did what the second book is supposed to do. It made me buy the third book. Near-future geopolitical intrigue that is highly imaginative and completely plausible. Pick!

I very much meant to buy the third in the series earlier this week and didn‘t. Now I‘m at home sick and would like to keep reading in this fantastically expansive sci-fi world, but can‘t. Woe, alas, alack, etc.
Anyway. The second book is at least as good as the first; I rec them!

If you hate reading a story that starts a bit slow, do not read this book. If you want to continue to read The Centenal Cycle series with a second instalment that unravels a complex world wide political conspiracy full of amazing characters/heroes that ends with a gripping ending that make you want to run right now and get the next book, read this book! This book was my work-break read and therefore endured rugged handling/coffee treatment.

2nd in trilogy of near-future science fiction with elements of political intrigue & spy thriller; about privacy vs surveillance, the cumulative power of data & controlling information; multiple plot lines; set in former Sudan, Central Asia & Switzerland. The global sweep and new world order is exciting. Prophetic, philosophical & unsettling. #Audiobook narrated by Christine Marshall, who voices dialogue for a large cast.

The truth: Mishima loves stories.
She loves intricacy and details and the earthy unlikelihood of life‘s coincidences and people‘s idiosyncrasies. She revels in rootless, mapless, planless travel that makes her feel as though a novel is writing her.

Jabberwocky I loved this one!! I can‘t wait for the conclusion to the trilogy comes out in September!! 6y
Lindy @Jabberwocky Yes, I think the conclusion to the trilogy will be great! This one isn‘t quite as strong as the first, but I enjoyed it anyway. 6y

Finished it. Loved it. I was so happy to see the return of favourites from the first book intermingling with new people, cultures and places. The release date for the third in September can‘t come soon enough!

kgriffith Color me intrigued... 6y
Jabberwocky @kgriffith check out the book I‘m tagging here. The first in the series is amazing! It‘s fast paced, global, and has the coolest technology 😍 6y
kgriffith @Jabberwocky Oh yeah, I sleuthed it out and marked them both TBR 🤓🤗 6y

I‘ve said it before and I‘ll say it again: Surprise representation is the best representation. Don‘t get me wrong I love a good coming out narrative as much as the next queer but I love books that are categorically sci-fi or historical fiction that just casually include queers and poc. It‘s great. 👌🏻#queerbooks

I have had one of those days where human contact has been ridiculous. I love my partner but if I see one more person I‘m going to fucking lose it. Ergo, it‘s hammock time.

Kaylamburson That looks like the most amazing hideaway. I want one! Enjoy it! 6y
Alfoster Check! Love hammock time!😍 6y

I‘m so excited to dig into this sequel to Infomocracy! I hope it lives up to the first book, because I haven‘t been able to get Infomocracy out of my head since I finished it. ♥️ #litsyworklunch

The global experiment in micro-democracy faces threats from all sides in this suspenseful and detailed follow up to Infomocracy. The story shifts to Roz, a supporting character from the first book, as she visits a newly minted centenal in what was once Darfur. I was very happy to see that badass Information agent Mishima was still critically involved in the plot; when the book ends she is facing radical change. Can't wait for book three!

Malka Older's Centenal Trilogy is the first set of books outside of the Stormlight Archive that has me waiting anxiously for the next book. Sadly, it took my library the better part of six weeks to process it into the system, so I've only just read it. #readinglog #sciencefiction

Null State is a solid continuation of the first book in the series. The author continues to explain the ideas of micro democracies and the impact thereof. But now we also learn about Null States, territories with limited or no access to "information". My favorite character of the first installment has returned, but there are also new characters to get acquainted with. Overall a good "middle book" and I am definitely looking forward to the next.

Amazing sequel that manages to balance new characters, a thrilling plot, and maintain our love of the old characters.
