Null States: A Novel | Malka Older

Malka Older's Centenal Trilogy is the first set of books outside of the Stormlight Archive that has me waiting anxiously for the next book. Sadly, it took my library the better part of six weeks to process it into the system, so I've only just read it. #readinglog #sciencefiction

It's an older book, but some of the fundamentals check out. Otherwise, it's a bit of a fun time capsule. #bookstagram #informationarchitecture #wayfinding

The very first short story I ever had the pleasure of narrating was my favorite: The Lady or The Tiger. No quick link for this one because I did it a few years ago, but you can find it on Audible if you're interested. #audiobook #shortstory #fantasy

A couple of years ago, I decided to listen to all of the Dresden Files audiobooks, despite the fact I read every one when they come out. (James Marsters may have been a deciding factor in that.) This isn't one of my favorites, but I still recognized much of it. #readinglog #fantasy #urbanfantasy

The review that convinced me to read this book made it sound so interesting. But it wasn't. It was insulting. It basically works from the premise that everyone is stupid, and goes from there. I'm not sure why I finished it.

I actually listened to an older audio production of this on the Internet Archive, and because the quality was difficult to take, it took me much longer than it should have. Different time, and all that. But the stories are good, despite that. #readinglog #sciencefiction

DivaDiane I read this aloud to my husband. Well, actually, we still have #3 to read. His style takes some getting used to and the dialogue is often cringeworthy, but I'm glad we read it. My husband read them as a teenager (in Italian) and is now wondering why he was so obsessed. 7y

For reasons unknown, my local library system has this on very few formats. So, I had to grab the e-book from the local digital library, whose e-book format...leaves much to be desired. I'm going to have to find a better source for the next book in the series. #readinglog #fantasy #dragons

This afternoon, I hung out with Ewoks who had had a bit of a run-in with William Shakespeare. ;) But this leaves me at the end of the Star Wars Shakespeare audiobooks, which means I have to read the prequels. That doesn't strike me as being as much fun... #readinglog #sciencefiction #shakespeare

Before I started doing voiceover, I taught, mostly in settings that were more wired for discovery and facilitated learning. One of the things I was really interested in was incorporating game mechanics into the learning process, and I wish this book had existed back then because it's a pretty decent overview of exactly that. #readinglog #teaching #games #gamesinlearning

I've loved every single book in this series. Alcatraz is a chaming unreliable narrator, and the books are a really great way to teach children about writing stories*. The one down side was that reading the last page first wasn't as successful in this one. #middlegrade #fantasy #humor #readinglog
