Brutal AF. Full of gore, & trauma, & horrors of many kinds. But also, full of complexity, & tenderness, & really fascinating magic.
On a personal level, if the story weren‘t enough to make me sob (hint: it was), the author‘s foreward & acknowledgments in which she details her relationship with her IRL grandmother (of Romani descent) would have been enough to make me ugly cry. Her wit & ferocity remind me of my own grandma, who I will always miss.
