I owe you a last review for this year. 😊

I really liked this little novella about a writer, his life and his view on other persons lives. His attitude changes through the years, but he believes in the same aims in life.

I loved this drawing, because it shows our favourite place: the library.

For 2018 I wish you all the best, lots of love and pleasure. And of course many new books and gorgeous reads. 😍

saresmoore Ah, yes. This one. 🤔 I know half of a song, a phrase or two, and a handful (mouthful?) of curse words in German. I'm off to Google! 8y
saresmoore !!! Okay, I'm sold. I must read this and Death in Venice...in an English translation. 8y
Hobbinol @saresmoore Sorry if I made you curse in German😆❗I should have checked the record. My edition is in German with notes in English and I read it when I finished my undergrad and the language was still fresh in my memory. I'd like to brush up on my German in order to read additional works. Death in Venice is wonderful! 8y

saresmoore No need to apologize! I love a good bookish rabbit trail (hole). Ha! 8y
LeahBergen Gah!!! I'm in love with your musketeer! 💗 8y
Hobbinol @LeahBergen That's a William Tell bank that's been handed down in my family. It's well over a hundred years old. And it still works: you load a coin on the rifle and press Tell's shoe. The rifle then shoots the apple off the kid's head before it falls into the building for safekeeping . And thank you! 8y
vivastory Better William Tell than William S. Burroughs & Joan Burroughs 8y
Hobbinol @vivastory Ha! Seriously! 👏🏻 8y
shawnmooney That William Tell bank - OMG – I guess you'll never invite @LeahBergen and me to your house because one of us is sure to abscond with it… 8y
Hobbinol @shawnmooney Thank you! We'll take the money inside and buy ourselves ice cream cones! 8y

If you're like me and every once in a blue moon you realize you haven't read a book #notinenglish for quite some time, publications like these whereby the text is in the original language, but there's a glossary of phrases and difficult vocabulary in English really help a lot (the German edition I linked to is not one of these). The bilingual editions never really work for me (except for poetry), because I always just end up reading the English!

Hobbinol By the way, these are really good books. The French books came with an interview with the author (in French) on cd. It was a subscription series that folded by the second year.😞 8y
