What do you do when your school gets a new set of books? Do you throw out the old copies? HECK NO!!!! You take them home and repurpose them into special gifts for your students! ❤️❤️ I can‘t wait to show you the finished products!

LiteraryinPA Wow! Can‘t wait to see! As a totally unartsy person, I really respect people who are. 7y
dragondrool Patiently waiting. 7y
Bookworm83 @LiteraryinLititz I wish I could say I‘m super artsy, but this is a pretty easy craft that even I can pull off 🤣 I‘ll tag you when I post the final product! (edited) 7y
Bookworm83 @dragondrool It will take me some time, but I‘ll tag you when I post the final product! 7y

Now, the 6th grade book selection for Back to School Night which includes the infamous Gaviotas by Alan Weisman. The kids hate this book, but we read it because it is a challenging non-fiction and they learn valuable skimming and scanning skills. They come back years later to visit and still talk about it 😉

Ruri_kaichou We don't appreciate those challenging ones til way later in life for sure. 😳 8y
CoffeeK8 This is a great idea, do you just set them out for parents to look at, or do you discuss them? 8y
Bookworm83 @CoffeeK8 We do an open house format, so parents can come in, look at the books and informally chat with teachers. It's really nice for all of us! 8y

Bookworm83 @Ruri_kaichou It's so true! Btw, once things settle down a little bit with school, I'll get in touch with you. I'd love to do another Litsy meet up! 8y
CoffeeK8 That's a great idea! I'm stealing this to recommend to my principal 8y
Bookworm83 @CoffeeK8 Please do! It's been really successful at our school 👍🏻 8y
Ruri_kaichou Yes! I was thinking about that today! And just to have the idea in your head, I was thinking end of August 😉 8y
Bookworm83 @Ruri_kaichou sounds great! 8y
Sace I could even use that as a cultural component for my Spanish class! Granted, it's high school but they may appreciate a lower reading level. I'm trying to focus more on reading for pleasure. 8y
Bookworm83 @RestlessFickleBookSlut Absolutely! It's a fascinating read, and it's at least a 9th grade reading level 👍🏻 8y
Sace @Bookworm83 awesome! 8y
