I have been wanting a copy of Sleepy Hollow for a while. I still picture Johnny Depp as Ichabod.

I liked that Sleepy Hollow is left open ended. It adds more to the mystery of the headless horseman.

I really wanted to like this book and I admit that there were a couple of stories I enjoyed. Overall, however, this book was not enjoyable for me. It was the LONGEST 120 pages of my life. For some reason, I expected much more from the title story, given its infamy, but I found it disappointing.

"Then, as he wended his way, by swamp and stream and awful woodland, to the farmhouse where he happened to be quartered, every sound of nature, at that witching hour, fluttered his excited imagination."

✨A short, but wholesome, start to my Spooky October stack. 😈
✨I don't have many to choose from, so I'm going to make the most of what I got and besides, they're all mostly classics and you can't go wrong with spooky classics. 👻📚
✨Also, hate to admit it, but I've never fully read The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. 🙈

I'm rather embarrassed to say that I've never read anything by Washington Irvine (or most classic authors) despite most of it being available for free under public domain so this is rather fitting for the season and it's a little nugget size so I'm gonna give it a try...and it works with my boo!Kish bingo needs for the Life & Lit challenge

✨Hopefully these will tide me over and next year I'll just have to better prepare and stop buying anything and everything Alice. 🙈
