Actually finished this weeks ago, but I‘m doing a terrible job at Litsy lately, so🤷🏼‍♀️.
Anyways, this was a cute ending to a long sci-fi series. I read a lot of reviews criticizing the fact that it‘s essentially a romance (Did you actually read this series, because it‘s hardly the first, see: Shards of Honor, A Civil Campaign, Captain Vorpatril‘s Alliance), or that it retcons a character to be poly (semi-true, but believably done).

#Readathon book three (The last Vorkosigan book!) + dinner. Not ashamed to admit that even though it was pretty clear what was coming, the end of CryoBurn was ROUGH.

Mehso-so

In the Vorkosigan universe, every story has something extra. A mystery to solve, a political situation to best, something. This story no. However it is an interesting read all the same, and Miles makes an appearance. It's not the ending I would have expected for Cordialia. I guess I wanted more.

This book was not what I expected. There was no mystery to solve and little action, and the major relationship this book rests on felt awfully retconned. I wish I'd seen hints of it in previous books. However, the dialogue, characters, and interactions are as fabulous as always. I'm really sad that I don't have any more new-to-me Vorkosigan books to read!

Now, why isn't there a book about this!? So much happened between the time of baby-Miles and crazy-undercover-mercenary-Miles that's just alluded to in the series. There's 18 years of political intrigue, wars and uprisings to cover there. Let's see some of that famed Aral military strategy in action. (With a side of "Cordelia uses her initiative and an improvised swat-team".)

Next up in the #24in48. I'm nervous about this one. I've seen some poor ratings from others who love this series as much as I do. Maybe it's an expectation thing? Some of the Vorkosigan books are 5-star brilliance, others (lately) are 2-3 star amusements. I so want this to be good, because it's another Cordelia book at long last. 😬

I thought this wouldn't arrive until after the #Readathon! Now I'm tempted to scrap my Readathon TBR and start with this instead! On the other hand... I've waited this long for it, so I can probably wait until Monday. 🙄Or use it as a backup if I'm losing focus at 2am.

As a Cordelia fangirl, I found this book just the most glorious, satisfying, blubbering-inducing thing ever. It's about relationship negotiation, moving forward, dealing with the aftermath of grief and hope for the future, parenting (and grandparenting), science, making family and finding home... Just all the things. Also, rains of flaming snot.

Heatherfeather Awesome review! Need to read these 7y

Adult relationship drama. A charming, gently-paced entry in an always-readable series.
