The Names of Dead Girls
The Names of Dead Girls | Eric Rickstad
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Eric Rickstad delivers another Canaan Crime novel, the electrifying sequel to The Silent Girls, and features once again detectives Frank Rath and Sonja Test as they track a depraved killer through rural Vermont. Every murder tells a story. Some stories never end . . . In a remote northern Vermont town, college student Rachel Rath is being watched. She can feel the strangers eyes on her, relentless and possessive. And shes sure the man watching her is the same man who killed her mother and father years ago: Ned Preacher, a serial rapist and murderer who gamed the system to get a light sentence. Now, hes free. Detective Frank Rath adopted Rachel, his niece, after the shocking murder of her parents when she was a baby. Ever since, Raths tried to protect her from the true story of her parents deaths. But now Preacher is calling Rath to torment him. Hes threatening Rachel and plotting cruelties for her, of the flesh and of the mind. When other girls are found brutally murdered, and a woman goes missing, Rath and Detective Sonja Test must untangle the threads that tie these new crimes and some long-ago nightmares together. Soon they will learn that the truth is more perverse than anyone could guess, rife with secrets, cruel desires, and warped, deadly loyalty. Mesmerizing, startling, and intricately plotted, The Names of Dead Girls builds relentlessly on its spellbinding premise, luring readers into its dark and macabre mystery, right to its shocking end.

I'm amazed at how many good reviews this book has on Goodreads. I found it so boring and felt like I skim read it. Good little twist at the end but wasn't worth it for me.

Rickstad writes some of the best thrillers out there today in my humble opinion. I enjoyed this one immensely. His descriptions of Vermont make me feel as if I know it well, despite having never been there. I literally couldn‘t put this one down. The characters are really well done and the story moves along at a pretty solid pace throughout. Definitely looking forward to more in this series.

#TBRtemptation post 3! Recently released. This is the 3rd installment in the Canaan Crime series. Detectives Frank Rath and Sonja Teat pursue a depraved killer through rural Vermont. Frank's adopted niece, Rachel, is being stalked by her parents' accused killer who's been released from prison, Ned Preacher. As other women are missing and found dead, the answers are more than anyone expected. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

I definitely enjoyed this book, although the pacing seemed odd at times. All and all I liked it, the ending was a good surprise and the characters are interesting and dynamic.

📚🔜
I‘d really, really like to read this book in November. Still in a major reading slump, and I‘ve picked up so many books lately and laid them down again after a chapter or two. I love this author and don‘t want to do a disservice by forcing myself to read it, yet I‘m not sure what else I‘ll be reading soon ...

LiteraryinLawrence I know you‘ve been slumping hard lately. I‘m so sorry! I found the book He Said/She Said to be an unputdownable mystery that was a cut above some of the garden variety thrillers. Or maybe a Liane Moriarty? Hope you‘re taking care of yourself, whether you‘re reading or not. 💚 6y
