I really wanted to love it, but it was very underwhelming for me. Great premise, great setting but it would have been better with more details flushed out.

When you‘re juuuuuuuust slightly on the other side of a major reading slump and depressive episode and you open this random book to this random page while trying to figure out what to read next.

A little pre-book breakfast club (since neither of us has read the book we picked yet but didn‘t want to put off breakfast any longer 💁). Super simple recipe for loaded breakfast potato skins in the latest Smitten Kitchen cookbook, but I‘m a fan of pretty much everything in the book anyway ... I switched out sour cream and bacon for hollandaise and fried squash.

An unexpected snow day means I feel no guilt whatsoever about just doing this all day 🤞🏻✌🏻

I was bound and determined to read for NYE last night, and I did. I was determined to prove to myself that I‘m not completely broken, so I made a nest, grabbed a book, and went for it.

I‘d say best book in a long time, but the competition wasn‘t fierce. even if I had just read 100 good books, this one would still stand out.

Hoping 2018 is prosperous in heart and kind to everyone. Thank you for always being here, Littens. ❤️

It‘s hilariously sad that I bought this even though I haven‘t read a book since September. Wishful thinking for one day in the future, maybe.

At this point I‘m worried my ability to read a book may never come back.

I‘d really, really like to read this book in November. Still in a major reading slump, and I‘ve picked up so many books lately and laid them down again after a chapter or two. I love this author and don‘t want to do a disservice by forcing myself to read it, yet I‘m not sure what else I‘ll be reading soon ...

I got up early with The American, thinking I‘d have some time in the quiet dark morning after he left to enjoy a coffee and open my #halloweengoespostal but somehow it turned in to a circus this morning (and we don‘t even have kids!) and long story short, I‘m about to try this again, 4 hours later! ☕️❤️

Ok, apparently Rupi is the exception to my major reading slump ... slowly, quietly, don‘t make any sudden movements ... I don‘t want to scare it away!

I need help.
I‘m better, emotionally, but seem to have lost my reading desire. like a switch has been flipped off for MONTHS now. holds come in from the library and then sit until I return them unread. I‘ve started a few but not finished. someone mentioned maybe a really, really good thriller/suspense would help. Any suggestions? loved Behind Her Eyes, find Paula Hawkins hit or miss, loved that original Gone Girl feeling. I‘m almost desperate.

Still slow going in general (my reading, not the story), but marching on! These mornings on our new back deck are seriously helping. The dog that wants to cuddle is not.

Or maybe it's the coffee. Either way👍

Coffee and reading on the deck every morning is absolutely helping me get back to normal. Not quite reading at the speed I'd like to be yet, but definitely back on track. Yay!

I'm exhausted. It's been such an emotional few months, and I can't quite get back into my normal reading routine. When does it go back to normal?
Thankfully (I think), September is jam packed with weddings, so I'm hoping that will either distract me or kick my ass back into normalcy ... fingers crossed. Until then, even if I'm quiet on here, I'm still thinking of my Litten friends ❤️

Good morning littens! The American took me away for an extended long weekend to distract us (mostly me) from our latest news and it was EXACTLY what I needed. Home again, and day one of getting back into routine. And after seven weeks of no coffee, this cup tastes like liquid gold 😍

July was a hard month. I could barely pick up a book, let alone read.

Our second round of IVF is over and done with as of today, and unsuccessful. My body is tired, my heart is broken and my mind needs a break. The only thing I could think to do after getting the news was immerse myself in a book. Two books down today, starting the third.

Reading heals better than whiskey, right?

I haven't been able to read a word of a book in at least two weeks, thanks to some personal stuff going on. My goal today is to fix that! Can't decide which one of these to start with - suggestions?

It's a quick read, so I don't want to say much else. Worth picking up.

I've been slow to read, let alone finish, anything the past few weeks, and I'm not sure why. Reading this slowly was a bit of a blessing - I was really able to absorb it in all it's hauntingly sad and hopeful ways.

Nice day for a stroll to the library with the Terror Squad! Finally got my hands on Exit West!

Soooooooo I went to see Paula Hawkins speak last month in Ann Arbor, where I also picked up her latest and she signed such a nice message.

Then I read the book and hated it, sooooooo .... at least the message was nice? 💁

I bought my niece a Wonder Woman junior reader this past weekend. I looked over to the passenger seat and saw her engrossed in it, which made me a pretty happy and proud Aunt!

Can't decide which one to start next! Suggestions?

In the wedding industry, we refer to the day after a large wedding as a hangover. tired, achy, groggy, dehydrated and mentally tired from switching from introvert to extrovert to control a million things all day (timing, guests, timing, guests, timing, guests). The first one of the season is always the worst, but reading outside helps! So does caffeine - lots and lots of caffeine.

First wedding of the season today, and although I'm ready, I don't FEEL ready. Reading for a bit to try and calm me, but someone saw the gear bags and now won't leave me alone because he knows i'll be gone all day. We got this, buddy!

Clearly I posted that before I saw the "new" Michael Chrichton is out this week, on top of a whole bunch of other great new releases. To the bookstore!

I'm in a rut. I don't want to read, I don't want to listen to audiobooks, I don't want to #audiowalk ...
it's a struggle to pick up my current read.
Do you think pausing it and reading something else will help? What do you do when you're in a reading slump?

I *was* enjoying reading this on the new deck until someone just HAD to chase the neighbours chicken out of the yard and got caught in the fence. Now he's sulking and won't leave my lap 🙄

I didn't realize today would be as hard as it is. On top of issues with my own mom, we're less than two months out from our (most likely) last round of IVF. Will I be okay if I never have a child? Absolutely. But knowing that doesn't make today any easier, especially when coupled with major hormones in prep for IVF 🙄Spending the day cuddling my Terrors and listening to audiobooks while I plant things and ignore everyone except The American.

WHY DID NO ONE WARN ME ABOUT THE FEELS

This book has been sitting in a TBR pile (mountain) for months and months and months and now I'm so mad that I don't have the sequel in my hands right this instant.

We finally have a back deck! It's almost complete, and it will be such a nice place to read. I love (love love love) reading on the front porch but I do NOT love the neighbours watching me read.

I think the eye-roll emoji sums this up best. 🙄🙄🙄

The best part is that no one in my library book club particularly enjoyed it - usually I'm the odd one out for my opinion, but not this time!

Meh. I found myself mostly skimming. Great premise, but all over the place in execution.

Spent a brief weekend at the cottage of @jpease89 , where we read, napped, vintage shopped and discussed this book over homemade beignets 😍 she's WAY too good to me.

We both loved the story. The book was an easy and quick read, but the heavy experiences of Saroo aren't glossed over. I haven't watched the movie, but I definitely will now.

I feel better today, so after I clean the rest of the house (yuck), I'm giving myself the afternoon to curl up and start/finish this in time for Breakfast Club on Sunday.

And great news, my #audiowalks are paying off - I'm now down to a weight I don't remember being before!

The forecast literally says 100% rain until Saturday night, so even though I wasn't feeling well this morning, we hustled to quickly get a long #audio walk in. Not two minutes after our return, it started pouring and hasn't stopped since. This weather is not helping how I feel, but at least the dogs were happy this morning AND I finally finished this audio! Review soon.

I'll admit, I have been looking forward to this one! I didn't think Girl on the Train was AMAZING, but I did think it was enjoyable and solid.

What about you? Are you looking forward to this one, or could you skip it?
