I‘d give this between a ⭐️⭐️⭐️ and ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating. The first third of the book scared the heck out of me, but then the middle seemed to drag and I wasn‘t completely satisfied with the ending. It did keep me reading and hooked until the end, though. As the review on the cover says, “You won‘t be able to look away.” Would love to know people‘s thoughts on this one!

This was an unexpected binge read for me. A mother and children stalked in their own home and mom‘s reality is questioned. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The fifth outing for the team of Detective Sergeant Washington Poe & civilian analyst, Tilly Bradshaw sees them tackle two puzzling cases. A poisoner is running amok, seemingly able to get to his victims even if they are under police protection, & for his fourth victim he uses the might of social media to get the public to vote on who he kills next. Although some bits were a little slow going, this debut was definitely a cut above. A woman and her two children hide after a home invasion...but was the whole thing just a figment of her imagination because of earlier trauma? Smart, well-written and definitely some pulse-pounding moments.

From the blurb this story sounded like my worst nightmare. First third, nope, can‘t do it. Mother is up in the night with young kids, husband not there, realises there‘s someone else in the house. No, not 300 pages of a house invasion with kids in the mix. Yet then the story changes, we go back into various parts of the narrators life, stories slowly evolve. A third in I was suddenly so invested I read the rest almost in one sitting.
