The 1956 movie has always been one of my favorites. (Even though Jimmy Stewart didn't play in it) I enjoyed the book just as much. A Quaker family in Indiana during the Civil War loved, sang, and laughed. It is just a feel good book. mom2bugnbee Oh, my word. My dad has talked about this movie my entire life (I'm 48), & I've never met anyone else who knows of this movie. Gary Cooper, yes? 3y

Butterfinger @mom2bugnbee yes. I'm 45 and I love old movies. The blurb on the back really aggravated me because it said Cary Grant. I think I may email the publisher. 3y
mom2bugnbee Wow! That's quite a mistake! Yikes. 3y
CarolynM @mom2bugnbee The movie was on TV in Australia more than once in the 1970's. I remember it fondly. (edited) 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Sounds like a good one! 3y

Who do I contact to correct inaccurate information? It was Gary Cooper who played in the film adaptation not Cary Grant. 🤦🤷

TrishB Is it on a kindle? There is a report error button on mine. 3y
Butterfinger @TrishB no it is a large print published in 07. 3y

It's a collection of short stories, compiled from short stories first published in magazines, that covers forty or so years of a Hoosier Quaker family in the late 1800s. The vignette format made it an easy read, but I found myself constantly trying to fill gaps in the storyline as I moved from one chapter to the next. That doesn't mean I enjoyed it any less--I just wish there had been a few more chapters to pull it all together.
