The Vanishing of Dr. Winter
The Vanishing of Dr. Winter | L. B. Hathaway
7 posts | 2 read | 7 to read
"When Posie clears a space in her diary to visit the University town of Cambridge on a personal mission, she finds more than she bargained for, as the past seems to confront her at every turn. She finds herself unwittingly taking on a dangerous new case in which she must try and find out what happened to Dr. William Winter, a brilliant Cambridge doctor who disappeared five years earlier in the chaos of war. But in doing so, Posie is forced to confront her own painful memories of the Great War. And just how safe is it really to go digging up the past?"--Author website.

I just finished this charming little mystery which has no relation to any of my reading challenges, but caught my eye on Scribd. Now I want to read the whole series. Cozy mystery series set in 1920s England, with a spunky young heroine (Posie Parker) who was a nurse in the Great War and now runs her own private detective agency. Very enjoyable.

Ruthiella Sounds like a great find. And I love Parker Posey 2y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag This sounds great plus 6 hours-ish is my preferred audiobook length and the library has it! Awesome! 2y

Christmas reads!
Finished The Vanishing of dr Winter in just 4 days, a book l didn't bailed on at last.
It's set in London and Cambridge after WWI with quite a few changes of identity and a supernatural twist at the end that l didn't see coming, but quite fit the atmosphere.
I expected some more from the end, but it was overall an anjoyable read.

Crinoline_Laphroaig Cover is intriguing! 6y

I know that technically it isn't winter yet, but l'm still going to start this for the #booked2019 tonight. Is it cheating?

And l've just discovered this is set at Christmas time, so, see? ☺

Since you asked, this is my plan for WINTER

1. Female detective: The Vanishing of dr Winter. Been meaning to read it since @CoffeeCatsBooks gave it to me last year. #BookAWeek
2. Retelling: The Girls at the Kingfisher Club. In my TBR since forever
3. My happy place is Dublin, so Fallen.
5. Irish author: David Lawlor, who's also a friend
6. New author: Lev AC Rosen #Screamathon

CoffeeCatsBooks I hope you enjoy it! I like how your covers go together too. 6y

#FallIntoBooks #SetInFaveEra

I have many novels set in the 1920s around the world. These are a few set in the British Isles.
True, most are mystery, but that's because l'm a mystery reader too. What best may l wish dir than a blend of my two favourite genre?
