Not my typical read, but dark, enjoyable, and seasonably appropriate
pick⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was a fun, spooky collection of stories about an archivist named Kyle Murchison Booth. The stories were very reminiscent of older horror short stories by H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allen Poe. These were great to read on a rainy day. This was my #bookspinbingo No. 25 pick and a fun #screamathon pick.
Kyle Murchison Booth is the COVID poster child since he avoids people, touch, and social situations. This collection of stories is so good. I don‘t know that the title story is my favorite, but it‘s interesting. The best one in the bunch for me is Drowning Palmer since it gives insight into Booth as a child and how he and others have grown up and changed.
pickIf you love vintage horror stories but you wish they included queer folks and women with agency, you‘ve gotta read this. Monette offers up ten unsettling tales set in early- to mid-20th century America, linked by a common protagonist and a brand of menace that blends supernatural terrors with real world anxieties. I‘m so glad I reread it.

I‘ve had an awesome time revisiting this collection. It‘s making me want to reread all her other stuff, stat.
This was my view while I read my daily short story. Looks like I‘m gonna hibernate this Thanksgiving weekend.
Really enjoying this collection of vignettes from the life of an accidental necromancer. The stories don‘t always wrap up nicely and the villains are not all punished. The MC is an archivist and it shows; the resolution of each story is about information rather than justice.
