This was solid, with a few weaknesses: it was a little preachy, and the underlying plot was a little simplistic. Some of the threads that came together at the end didn't feel meaningful or significant.
The end almost really pissed me off but came back around to solid. Moore left a couple small gems unexplained for the reader to pick up, without holding their hand and explaining it (something I've noticed lately--trust the reader!!)

What, no acknowledgment for his obviously close relationship with his partner Jenner?? Also boy is this shedding subtlety fast. Bit preachy there, Jon.

We've suddenly taken a hard right into Zero History

It's true that society is sick and consumerism is a blight on humanity but this book also brings a bit of that Old Man Yells At Cloud "smartphones will bring the apocalypse" hysteria that I don't love.

This one finally came back in! I'm determined to finish. I really like the prose, it manages to clearly evoke the hard-boiled style without reading like a one-to-one pastiche of Hammett or Chandler.

Suspenseful at times with a hint of romance. Definitely a distopian/sci-fi book which usually isn't my thing. Overall though I enjoyed it and would give it 4 out of 5 stars.

I loved how perfectly noir this novel was, while also delivering new weird contamination and near future sci-fi. This is an excellent blend of genres without any sacrifice in the character or word craft. All the noir genre feelings without the cardboard tropes. Like if "They live", "Borne" and "The Maltese Falcon" swirled up a love child.

Correction...the wait list is over TWO months.

My libby app lagged and caused me to return the Night Market instead of Locke...I'm fixing to lose my shit, the wait list is over a month and I can't afford to buy it on Kindle.

Very disappointing, I went into this thinking it was going to be a good let‘s solve this missing memory thing and was slapped in the face with an abysmal ending. I wanted to know why the body was contagious, why the body was there at all, more about his previous “episodes” and was left with nothing but a giant red hand print on my face.

This one has a really dark, dystopian/sci-fi/Big Brother type of feel to it. Set in San Francisco, it was intriguing and I liked the way it gradually unfolded, but I thought there were parts that didn‘t quite fit together as well as they could have. I enjoyed it, but I think it could‘ve been fleshed out a little better. But still, an author I wasn‘t previously familiar with but liked well enough to want to seek out his previous novels.

I'm really enjoying #TheNightMarket, which I received as an ARC from #Netgalley. One twist and turn after another.

In this world, we're addicted to the latest "it" thing, to the point that we tune out of the rest of life to satisfy our desire for "it." But a pair of homicide detectives get mixed up in events that don't make sense, and they begin to unravel the con.

Fascinating. Imagine waking up with one set of vague memories, only to learn that you are mistaken. You've had the flu. That's all.

I've just started this ARC ebook from #NetGalley, and I do not want to stop. #TheNightMarket has captured my attention.

Carver is at a crime scene. The man is covered by a substance eating through his skin. Six FBI agents burst in and removed Carver from the scene. Hes pushed into a trailer, forced to drink a liquid that sends him into seizures, and is shocked unconscious. He wakes in his bed to find his neighbor, Mia. She saw him being carried home by police, who told her he‘d been poisoned. Carver doesn‘t really know this woman, but he has no reason to doubt her.
