At Death's Door
At Death's Door: A Picture Book for Grown-Ups | Ben Joel Price
4 posts | 5 read | 4 to read
Greetings to all with a penchant for the darker things in life. Settle down and prepare yourself for a twisty, tricksy, cautionary tale of troublesome terror as we follow a dastardly dozen of trick-or-treaters on a night of Halloween hell! Be warned: this nuisance bunch of roustabouts (including a rusty robot, a kooky clown, and a malodorous merman) is armed with an arsenal of devious tricks such as flour bombs, rotten eggs, water pistols, and more. The turbulent twelve are out to collect, taking no prisoners . . . that is, until they ring the door at number twelve and things take a turn for the worse. Woe betide them . . . woe betide them all! At Deaths Door: A Picture Book for Grown-Ups is a macabre delight for both the young and old. Author and illustrator Ben Joel Price (Love Bites) brings together a gruesome hoard of children who are out for a little trick or treat funbut who get much more than they bargained for. Fans of horror films and graphic novels will enjoy this grisly Halloween picture book. Its the perfect read for a spooky Halloween evening and a great gift for that sick and twisted friend.

A Halloween picture book for adults with a little story told in rhymes. Cute, funny, and a little dark. I enjoyed this one.

Described as “a picture book for adults”, this darkly humoured book is full of brilliant illustrations, with a Halloween story told in rhymes. I read it every Halloween, and laugh every single time.

I suggest you check your library‘s Libby or hoopla catalog to see if they carry it, because it‘s fantastic!🎃

Here‘s the initial lineup for my #TeamSlaughter picks! A few audiobooks, a few ebooks, and one adult picture book. Have you guys read any of these?

October, I‘m ready for you!

overtheedge I really enjoyed My Best Friends Exorcism, but it's not as good as Horrorstör. 5y
JacqMac I liked My Best Friends Exorcism. And Zoo is really good. Much better than the tv show, which was good. 5y
Jesstifies I have also read My Best Friend's Exorcism and enjoyed it too. Scary business isn't really my favorite genre, but I found myself enjoying the book. I was hoping for a little more camp and 80s jokes (like maybe the movie Cabin in the Woods?) but it ended up just feeling like a spooky story. 5y
kamoorephoto I LURVE My Best Friend‘s Exorcism (and Horrorstör); I really enjoy Grady‘s sense of humor in his writing... 5y

Considering I am honestly obsessed with all things Halloween, I'm not surprised that I absolutely loved this short story. 🎃🕷
