And this, my book loving friends, is how we do Thanksgiving in the South.

(But only on holidays, since contrary to popular belief most Southerners do not aspire to be on a weight related reality television show.)

Happy eating/reading/sleeping everyone! 😍

Zelma Yup, that looks about right. 😋 6y
Lola I added bacon to my Brussels sprouts hash because...bacon 😍Happy Thanksgiving! 6y
kspenmoll My neighbor is from Alabama. Every year we go there for fabulous southern desserts! 🥧🍰 6y

Cathythoughts This looks good. I‘d love the recipe ( sometime when you have a minute) x Happy Thanksgiving 🙏 6y
Tamra Bacon.....what a gift! 😋 6y
TricksyTails Everything's better with bacon! 6y
julesG Bacon and beans is a good combo. 6y
Kappadeemom Looks good!! Where do you live? (I am in GA) 6y
cathysaid @Kappadeemom Mableton, GA - Just outside of Atlanta 6y
cathysaid @Lola @Tamra @TricksyTails @julesG That's actually "fatback" aka salted pork (essentially a really fatty version of bacon). But just as tasty! 6y
cathysaid @Cathythoughts Freshly snapped green beans with half a package of fatback (salted pork). Water just to cover, bring to medium boil, add a little olive oil. Boil almost all the water out (appx 1 inch water left). Discard cooked fatback, add other half of the package of fatback, add water to cover, and boil down again. Discard or keep remaining fatback as you wish; it is essentially really fatty bacon. Truly unhealthy and truly delicious green beans 6y
Tamra @cathysaid sounds even better! 6y
cathysaid @Tamra Right? No wonder so many people a generation ago in this region died of heart attacks 😳🙄 (edited) 6y
Tamra @cathysaid they died happy. 😁 6y
cathysaid @Tamra 😂👏😂 6y
Kappadeemom @cathysaid I am in Valdosta :) 6y
cathysaid @Kappadeemom We've been interacting on my post about ATL winter weather and asked someone where she lived in south GA. I just figured out who that person is and we should avoid interaction. Go to the page of "aschermetz" and read her post a week ago for How The Grinch Stole Christmas. (edited) 6y
Kappadeemom I just saw this. Law, what‘s wrong with this girl? Well, it sounds like your tribe took care of it. I ain‘t got time for no drama. I have 6 kids, and they don‘t even act like that 😳 6y
cathysaid @Kappadeemom Whew. Glad you saw it. This is the only way I could think you tell you without creating more drama 🙄 6y

I have enough cookbooks to whip up a #bellyful of good food. The tagged book is our go-to Thanksgiving cookbook. #yesvember @Libby1

Libby1 @Lcsmcat - do you enjoy baking? 7y
Tamra My “go to” is a Betty Crocker‘s we received as a wedding gift. It‘s the only time I use it, but it is a faithful Turkey & Fixins friend. 😄 7y
Lcsmcat @Libby1 I love to eat baked goods, and liked baking when I was younger, but now I prefer cooking. Particularly soup and vegetable dishes. 😋 7y
Libby1 Lovely! 🤤 7y
