15 posts | 14 read | 13 to read

Bailedbailed

I was really looking forward to this book but it‘s a bail for me after only 33 pages. Mainly because the protagonist babbles. She babbles a huge ton and if I am annoyed who herself sometimes tends to babbling that tells you much.

I wasn‘t willing to bear this – plus the uncounted footnotes (not good in an e-book) for 300 pages.

To those who finished the book: Please let me know what the big insight is.

Moony Thats pitty. :( Next one will be better! 6y
Buechersuechtling @Moony Yepp. Although I tell everyone constantly that bailing is okay, I‘m often hesitating. So I‘m a bit proud that I decided quickly this time. And yes, next one will be better – especially because I already picked my next book. Which is what I always do, I don‘t always start the new pick right away but I most of the time need to pick a new read immediately after finishing the old one. 6y

“Preliminary remark of the author

Or: a glimpse behind the scenes (Those who are cheesed off easily better skip it.)”

⬆️⬆️⬆️ Yes, chances are good that I like this book. Seriously it‘s cool that a remark is not only at the end of the book but at its beginning.

My next read:

„A ventured experiment: three friends decide to ask people from their school once a week a question which up to now nobody dared to ask, although all want to know the answer.
What the friends kick off with this they would never have anticipated.

A wise book about friendship, love and the question what we do with ourselves and our lives and what „everting“ seems to mean.“

Buechersuechtling @Moony Oh, ein „added to stack“. ? 6y
Moony Deine Beschreibung klang toll. Erinnert mich an 6y

Not sure why I've waited so long, as I like Juby so very much.

So much to love. Canadian YA set on Vancouver Island. Normandy Pale and her best friends Dusk and Neil have decided to ask the students at their high school to tell the truth. Their questions reveal surprising thoughtful answers and motivates Normandy to get to the bottom of why her older sister, Keira, has come home from college. Quirky characters. Well-written. Emotionally resonant.

Brazilian cheese rolls, a good coffee and a fun book. A perfectly happy morning, despite the cold outside. (It snowed here yesterday... it's not even funny anymore 😭)

ItsAnotherJen Oh no!!! No more snow, it's time for spring! 😦 8y

Starting what should be a fun, quick read. And maybe after I'll give Cleopatra another chance 🙄I always feel so bad when I abandon a book!

My daughter and I read this as part of a teen group. We both enjoyed it. A lot. I really enjoyed the characters, flow of the story and storyline. I also like the authors adult book Home To Woefield, but I think this one was better.

I really liked the subject: the negative impact on a family when they are the subject of an autobiographical graphic novel hit series. Juby's use of footnotes is stellar also. Still, this isn't one of her best. It's on the plus side of so-so.

HardcoverHearts "Plus side of so-so" is a perfect descriptor. I might need to borrow that sometime. I can instantly think of a few books that'll fit that mode. ? 9y
Lindy Ha ha. Feel free to borrow or steal. 😊 9y

Apparently, this sort of thing seems romantic to a huge segment of the reading and film-going public. (92)
