Let me start by saying Rose is not one of my favorite characters & reading this book doesn't help that. Her sister Paige, I do like & since this book ends with the beginning of The Last Jedi, she isn't around for long. And that situation isn't handled very well.
In this book the Tico sisters & crew are picking up probe droids when the First Order shows up over Attera.

Not the best Star Wars novel, but still a nice read. I enjoyed seeing Rose together with her beloved sister and also liked how the author creates a good character development. The story itself didn't quite catch me, but I still feel like I've learned a bit more about the Star Wars universe.

I enjoyed this one, my library luckily had it on audiobook since the physical library is closed down and it was a nice quick listen and distraction from news overload this weekend.

This book is the backstory of Rose and Paige, I wish we would have seen more of them on screen together, as a team, before where we finally meet them in the films and I enjoyed this story of one of their earlier missions.

This book is essentially Rose Rico‘s backstory, which is why I chose to read the book. You get you learn about where Rose & her sister, Paige came from, how important the relationship between the sisters are, & how they came to join the Resistance. That‘s pretty much where my love of the book stops. I found the plot and pacing a little bit off. I wasn‘t as emotionally invested as I could be. TLDR, I loved learning about Rose & Paige & that‘s it.

I'm a big fan of both Star Wars and Elizabeth Wein's books, so this one was A Lot, emotionally speaking. Great backstory for Rose & Paige, interesting leadup to The Last Jedi. Just 😭💔💕

Elizabeth Wein‘s tie-in STAR WARS novel for children aged 10+ (illustrated by Phil Noto) is a weirdly flat and dull affair that lacks any kind of tension and does little to flesh out Rose Tico‘s character (or her sister Paige) and which lacked the spectacle or the action that the STAR WARS canon expects such that I was left very disappointed.

I know Star Wars is set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, but I still think #hoopla adding it to the history section might be a bit of a stretch 😂

Post TLJ, I've been craving more Star Wars. So a book about Rose and Paige Tico's experiences with the Resistance? Yes please!

I was obsessed with a lot of the SW books as a kid, but haven't read any of the newer novelizations. I've heard good things, though, and I'm excited to dive into some of them!

ferskner And it's by Elizabeth Wein?!?!?!? 7y

callielafleur I recommend Bloodline and Lost Stars, both by Claudia Grey. So good! 7y
rachelsbrittain @Bradleygirl i found it on hoopla so if you have that app through you library you can probably read it that way too 😊 7y

I enjoyed this book. It gives more insight into Rose‘s character and that of her sister, Paige, and Admiral Holdo. It kept my interest.
