Saw Josh Ritter tonight at my university. He was fantastic! Since he‘s both a songwriter and a novelist, his show was divided into two parts — a concert and a book reading combined with a Q & A. I‘d thought about not going because I was tired; I‘m so glad I changed my mind. My husband loved it too. No pictures of Ritter because they didn‘t allow it.

SharonAlger That sounds like a fantastic night! 5y

Next to books, music is my refuge. Actually, books are often an escape, but music helps me process & cope. Josh Ritter is one of my favorites, and I‘ve been playing his song “Girl in the War” a lot today. I‘ve heard him say that the “girl” represents the USA. With the events of the past few weeks (and the wildfires raging across my state yesterday), the above lyrics are exactly where my emotions have been today. #nonbookishpursuits #uncannyoctober

BarbaraJean I should add that Josh Ritter is multi-talented—the above image is a painting of his called “Basin and Range,” and he wrote the tagged book. It‘s received mixed reviews, and I haven‘t read it yet, but his lyrics are some of the best narratives I‘ve heard in song form! 7y

KVanRead The fires are so terrible. Could see and smell the smoke here in SF. My heart goes out to those affected. 7y

I haven't read this book yet, but I saw this gentleman in concert last night (for the second time) and it was amazing. Seriously, I love Josh Ritter's music, SO MUCH.
