The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever
The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever | Julia Quinn
17 posts | 53 read | 10 to read
2 March 1810 . . . Today, I fell in love.At the age of ten, Miranda Cheever showed no signs of Great Beauty. And even at ten, Miranda learned to accept the expectations society held for heruntil the afternoon when Nigel Bevelstoke, the handsome and dashing Viscount Turner, solemnly kissed her hand and promised her that one day she would grow into herself, that one day she would be as beautiful as she already was smart. And even at ten, Miranda knew she would love him forever. But the years that followed were as cruel to Turner as they were kind to Miranda. She is as intriguing as the viscount boldly predicted on that memorable daywhile he is a lonely, bitter man, crushed by a devastating loss. But Miranda has never forgotten the truth she set down on paper all those years earlierand she will not allow the love that is her destiny to slip lightly through her fingers . . .

Wallflower Miranda fell in love with Turner ten years ago.

Burnt by his first marriage, Turner is determined to avoid love and another marriage, but why should his younger brother gain Miranda's hand. Or any other man of the 'ton'?

I thought it was gonna be another cheeky historical novel, but it kind of tugged in my heart towards the end. It got a little heavy and I loved it!

#bookspinbingo update. Finished this one. Would have been better if the hero wasn‘t such an arrogant ass. I did like the heroine though. I‘m reading all weekend so hopefully I‘ll get a bingo soon!

Finished this up quickly while taking down Christmas decor and housekeeping. Really enjoyed it ithough the hero was quite the rat for most of the book. Loved Miranda and her smart and strong personality and insistence on making her own way.

I would have liked this book more, but the romance happened way too slowly with the hero not actually being attracted to the heroine until way too late in the book and then being an absolute jerk at one point while she waited and waited for him. And his eventual epiphany at the end was too little too late. #historicalromance
