Autumn Bones
Autumn Bones: Agent of Hel | Jacqueline Carey
4 posts | 15 read | 8 to read
New York Times bestselling author Jacqueline Carey returns to the curious Midwest tourist community where normal and paranormal worlds co-exist—however tenuously—under the watchful eye of a female hellspawn… Fathered by an incubus, raised by a mortal mother, and liaison to the Pemkowet Police Department, Daisy Johanssen pulled the community together after a summer tragedy befell the resort town she calls home. Things are back to normal—as normal as it gets for a town famous for its supernatural tourism, and presided over by the reclusive Norse goddess Hel. Not only has Daisy now gained respect as Hel’s enforcer, she’s dating Sinclair Palmer, a nice, seemingly normal human guy. Not too shabby for the daughter of a demon. Unfortunately, Sinclair has a secret. And it’s a big one. He’s descended from Obeah sorcerers and they want him back. If he doesn’t return to Jamaica to take up his rightful role in the family, they’ll unleash spirit magic that could have dire consequences for the town. It’s Daisy’s job to stop it, and she’s going to need a lot of help. But time is running out, the dead are growing restless, and one mistake could cost Daisy everything…

A solid urban fantasy though I didn't love it as much as the first one. It did leave me guessing on the mystery and I enjoyed the growth of some of the secondary characters but Daisy seemed to regress a little which is frustrating. I'm interested to see how the trilogy wraps up in the next book.

While Neptune himself isn‘t in these books, (that‘s what the 🔱 symbol makes me think of...) there is a wonderful strong female water creature who features strongly in them.

If you are into urban fantasy, I highly recommend this fun trilogy!

Leniverse I like Urban Fantasy. It's one of my go-to genres when I'm in a slump. But there's a lot of chaff in that genre! So I'm grateful for recommendations. I'll check this series out. 6y
Leniverse Ooh, it's the author of the Kushiel books. Another series I've been meaning to buy! 6y
Beachesnbooks I liked this trilogy! No one ever talks about it! 6y

My A-Z reading challenge! In between ARCs I've been challenging myself to read out of my personal libraries. My Goodreads goal is 56/120 already... time to get reading!

booksavvyreviews Thanks @readingatdawn ! It's my first time doing this kind of challenge. My husband had been eyeing my shelves and noticed how many books I had. I eeped and decided it was time to clean some books out while I read! 🤣 7y
readingatdawn @booksavvysissy lol that's what I need to do next - a "read books I own and haven't read" challenge ?? 7y
