pickCharming 1916 novella. Heavy on traditional gender roles for the time but the relationships mostly reflected a mutual respect. The reverend and his wife were on obvious equal footing. Interesting to find a minor character with postpartum depression. The doctor was matter-of-fact about it as a not uncommon condition though of course there was no such label.
