so-soLaila is an introvert, she expresses herself solely through her writing. This book is about her finding her voice in her writing and coming out of her shell with her family and her friends. It was good, but it wasn't super memorable or engrossing.
I am reading this book and about to read it again to read a few more pages and it‘s super good. Happy Reading.
pickAn excellent truly unique older #YA. Laila is a dedicated 18-year-old high school SF writer whose world of careful control is turned upside down when her mentor/teacher is in a horrible accident. His replacement is an impossibly cool author Laila wants desperately to impress. The ensuing journey takes her way out of her comfort zone. I loved Redgate's smart insightful writing and portrayals of mental health, pansexuality, and a tight friend group.
so-soThis meanders and monologues. While I appreciate what Redgate was trying to do and the diversity she instilled in this, it was a bit of a struggle getting through. I mean, as a writer, I related a lot to Laila. Maybe it's just this slump I've been in and nothing to do with this book at all.

pickThis contemporary YA features an 18y/o. I love seeing teens of all ages in YA but more often than not the teens of YA are on the younger side, so this was nice. This is fresh and fun while also full of tough topics. I really loved this one. #finaldraft #rileyredgate
