Don‘t know how many folks are following the current Conservative vs Progressive battle amongst science fiction authors, but Larry Correia, the mind behind today‘s Audible Daily Deal is actively fighting AGAINST what he calls “boring message-fic” which means books with diversity/LGBTQ representation/anything outside of his narrow shoot-‘em-up dudebro box.

He‘s not as bad as Vox “No Gays in Scifi” Day but... maybe don‘t patronize this tool bag.

wanderinglynn Really? Authors are arguing over this? Why do these conservatives care if other authors have diverse characters? I thought the point of writing was that you could write a world as you saw it and not be constrained by anyone else‘s view? I thought that especially scifi & fantasy authors would embrace the idea of freedom of expression, worlds without limits or boundaries? 6y

MicheleinPhilly I don‘t even read sci fi but I remember following all of this on Twitter back in the day. What a self serving tool. 6y
Seekingtardis @wanderinglynn I thought the same thing. This makes me very sad and very discouraged as a reader/writer. 😢 6y
llwheeler Yep, I have not read him and do not plan on it. Too many other amazing writers in the sff community who are diverse and welcoming of diversity that i can spend my time and money on, to bother with the reactionaries. 6y
2BR02B I was so happy to see the list of Hugo finalists this year. Not a puppy to be found. 6y
readordierachel Ugh. Thanks for the heads up. 6y
Dogearedcopy I listened to an award nominated title of his last year, narrated by another Sad Puppy, Adam Baldwin. L.C. definitely has a chip on his shoulder and it‘s too bad as he is actually a good and entertaining writer. But still, he doesn‘t have a lock on skill and talent and there is no lack of other great and entertaining SFF authors who do better in terms of diversity. 6y
JSW What wanderinglynn said. And 2BR02B. And countless other voices. Writers can write whatever, so if he wants to write his dudebro stuff, go for it. I just won‘t read it. And I will read what I want. And what I want is diverse characters and books. (edited) 6y
