I am in a reading slump. Started several books but nothing holds my attention.

CatMS Been there. Usually start several books none of which grab me, then pick up one from a favorite author and genre which helps me get going again. 2y
Deblovestoread They are the worst. Sometimes reading the next in a favorite series can help. Visiting with familiar characters is comforting. 2y
tessavi @CatMS Thanks, I will try that. 2y
tessavi @Deblovestoread unfortunately, I have no good series going at the moment. 2y

I didn't realize it was a short story collection, until the 'second chapter' made no sense. As with every short story book, a few great ones but most just OK.

CatMS Huzzah for Mick Herron!! 2y

This was free in the Audible Plus catalog. I didn't know anything about the book or author when I started it, but it turned out to be a fast paced mystery/thriller. Not the best I read, but just what I was in the mood for!

As with most short story collections, it was a mixed bunch. There were a few I loved and some were quite haunting. However, this is a rare case where the movie is better than the title story.
Would recommend this if you enjoyed The Three-Body Problem.

Graywacke Is it related to the movie? 2y
tessavi @Graywacke The title story setting is the same, but that's a out it. None of the other stories are related. 2y

This is the second Backman book I read and I have mixed feelings. Some parts really touched me an Backman is great at showing people's thoughts & emotions. But there is just something about the writing style that makes it less enjoyable. I felt the same a out A man called Ove.
