The New York Times bestselling author of The Sound of Glass and coauthor of The Forgotten Room tells the story of a woman coming home to the family she left behind--and to the woman she always wanted to be... Georgia Chambers has spent her life sifting through other people's pasts while trying to forget her own. But then her work as an expert of fine china--especially of Limoges--requires her to return to the one place she swore she'd never revisit... It's been thirteen years since Georgia left her family home on the coast of Florida, and nothing much has changed, except that there are fewer oysters and more tourists. She finds solace seeing her grandfather still toiling away in the apiary where she spent much of her childhood, but encountering her estranged mother and sister leaves her rattled. Seeing them after all this time makes Georgia realize that something has been missing--and unless she finds a way to heal these rifts, she will forever be living vicariously through other people's remnants. To embrace her own life--mistakes and all--she will have to find the courage to confront the ghosts of her past and the secrets she was forced to keep...

Today‘s Prompt: INSPIRING

The beekeeper's quotes at the head of each chapter were thoughtful and interesting, and the inspiring quotes throughout the book were marvelous.

Another lovely, enjoyable, memorable read that won't disappoint fans of Karen White and women's fiction.

Thanks for the prompt.

Georgia vowed she would never return home after she and her sister had words and parted ways ten years ago.

But....never say never. James, a client of Georgia's looking for a special Limoges China pattern changed it all.

My favorite part was the mystery behind the connection between the Limoges soup CUP andGeorgia and Maisey's family and James' family.

Another marvelous read.

“FLIGHT PATTERNS is a beautiful book about family, reconnecting, and has the added bonus of a few family secrets. The secrets are quite good. 🙂

One of the many things I loved about this book is the setting, the iconic gulf coast town of Apalachicola, Florida. Apalachicola is only a short drive from my home, and I have spent many afternoons there shopping and eating some of the freshest seafood in the world. It was joyous to have this charming oyster town featured. Read full review:

This was my first Karen White book. I read it for book club. I very much enjoyed it. I plan on reading others of hers. Since she was at a book conference I attended and I knew we would be reading this for book club, I bought her book and was able to get it signed.

I had a 2 for 1 credit I had to use by midnight tonight on Audible. Of course there are only certain titles that are eligible. I've been wanting to read this so of course it was my first choice.

"There are no limits to starting over. That's why the sun rises every day. Unless you're running in circles, and then the outcome never changes." Lovely novel about bees/connection to humans /forgiveness, redemption, parenting , family and generation old mysteries- beach reading while on Cape Cod. Reminds me of Sue Monk Kidd's use of bees in The Secret Life of Bees. Book 2; Nook pgs 403. @TheSpinecrackersBookClub #OlympicBookChallenge

"The keeping of bees is like the direction of sunbeams" Thoreau. (I'm quoting Karen White who is quoting Thoreau) Either way, it's a quote I love as I watch my own busy sunbeams.

Louise Have you read any of the books by Gunther Hauk about bees? Fascinating! He is also interviewed in the marvelous documentary Queen of the Sun. 8y
Jess_Read_This @Louise No! I haven't heard of him before and am interested to check out his work and thoughts. It is only my second year as a beekeeper and I still have lots to learn. Thank you so much for the recommendation! I haven't seen that documentary either. 8y
Jess_Read_This @Louise I tried to find his book Saving the Honeybee.. Btw Amazon and eBay the lowest starting price is $75! 8y
Louise I'm out of town so can't find the link for you (just on my phone right now, but you might try Steiner Books or the Nature Institute for Gunther Hauk's books. He runs Spikenard Honeybee Sanctuary so you could also contact them. There is also a book of lectures by Rudolf Steiner about bees. 8y
Louise Oh, you must see Queen of the Sun! It's wonderful! It was made by Taggart Siegel and a partner of his. You can find Taggart on Facebook. There's also a website, but I don't have the URL on hand. Bees are so fascinating! The Nature Institute in Ghent, NY may also have some great books on bees. 8y

Not sure why I picked this book but it wasn't for me. So badly wanted to bail but had nothing better to read so just finished it. Its only redeeming quality was the chapter intros about the life of bees. The story was far too drawn out and completely predictable.
