Audio Book: Essays on Sound Technologies in Narrative Fiction | Mikko Keskinen
4 posts
Audio Book deals with the ways in which various technologies enabling the transmission or storing of sound and voice are figured in selected works drawn from contemporary narrative fiction. The sound technologies are shown to influence the narrative structure, metaphorics, and style of the works studied.

Mid-May audiobook snapshot. Haven‘t read Michael Connelly in years - guess I‘m playing catch-up!

Ruthiella Connelly had a huge back catalogue! Lots to read if you are so inclined. 2w
5feet.of.fury My husband bought me that Connelly book a couple years ago and I still haven‘t read it 😩 maybe this is my sign to give it a try 2w

I‘ve got 5 credits to use on Audible and I‘m not up to date with new releases or anything from the last few months. What would you guys recommend? Especially non-fiction wise as I find that easier to listen to and keep track of when I‘m listening while putting Alfie to sleep etc. Even if it‘s not a new book I‘d still appreciate any recommendations ❤️

RinaBrahmbhattBarot I love Steve jobs autobiography, Atomic Habits and Deep work - my current recommendation (edited) 5y
RamsFan1963 I'm currently listening to this. Its friggin amazing, both the book, which won the Pulitzer, and the narrator are top notch. The book is about the events that lead up to WWI. 5y
vlwelser Yes, Please by Amy Poehler is really funny. Bossypants was also interesting. In case you don't want anything too serious. 5y

ItsAnotherJen Get the most out of those credits!! I like to do chunky books with my credits because it's one way to be able to enjoy a huge book and not worry if it takes you longer than Overdrives 14 day audiobook checkout limit. So..The Stand or 11-22-63 by Stephen King, A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara, Lonesome Dove, 1Q84, Game of Thrones are some ideas 5y
Billypar I listened to my three favorite memoirs this year on audio: Forchés What You Have Heard is True, Angelou's I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, and Machado's Dream House. 5y
Tanisha_A Have you read Becoming yet? 5y
Megabooks Untamed, Hidden Valley Road, Sigh Gone are all good, recent nonfiction audiobooks! 5y
Tanisha_A @youneverarrived I read it in print. But I have heard very good things about it on audio. You may want to check it out. 🙂 5y
Tanisha_A Plus it's narrated by Michelle O herself. 5y
Megabooks I read Becoming on audio. It‘s excellent. Nineteen hours long, which was a bit much for where I was, but a very good audiobook! 5y
youneverarrived @Tanisha_A @Megabooks I‘m into autobiography/memoir at the minute so this would be perfect 👌 I‘ll have to give it a listen. 5y
Megabooks Enjoy!! 5y
Tanisha_A Hope you enjoy it 🙂 5y
