Put this on the Comfort Reads shelf. Lodge has a light satirical voice and it was fun to watch an American in England and a Brit in America experience each other's 1960s academic culture.

In Lodge's "Changing Places," English professors play a game where they confess the most famous book that they have never read. The game ends in disgrace when someone admits to never having read Hamlet. I've never read Raymond Chandler (who died 60 years ago today). What's your confession?

Gezemice I am on my first Dickens (Great Expectations), never read Tolstoy, Faulkner, Pride and Prejudice, read way too few black and Asian writers. I hated Wuthering Heights and could not finish Catch-22 and The Portrait of The Artist 9y
