Finally was able to get into a book and finish it! This book was pretty good. The obvious romance tropes are riddled throughout, but that‘s why you read a historical romance!

Ash and Lorelei are great! They have such a long history with so many unknowns. Pirates, pirate ships and the sea are great too.

This was my first book by the author, but not my last. I want to continue with the Victorian Rebel series.

I‘ve been struggling the last week or so to settle in with a book. I‘ve read 50 pages of 3 books and haven‘t been sucked into any really. I started this one tonight and I‘m hoping it‘ll do the trick.

I wouldn‘t say I‘m in a slump, but when I am, reading a romance typically helps.

I think right now there are too many books I want to read that I‘m feeling a little overwhelmed.

There are books I “should” be reading and books I want to read.

Texreader Hate when I get into a reading funk too! 5y

The plot is set in an era where suffering was the norm for the lower classes. It features a damaged hero and a delicate but courageous heroine. If this is your catnip, the writing is impeccable. Fans of the series will enjoy the appearance of previous characters. For me, the author heaped so much bad luck on the hero, I had trouble believing he‘d survived it at all, much less achieved his aims. Plus convenient amnesia? Crazy sauce.

This was my first book by Kerrigan Byrne but it definitely won‘t be my last! I devoured this book in two sittings. It has everything you could want from a romance. easily the best romance I‘ve read this year⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This riveting adventure has all the elements historical romance readers love. Filled with mystery, drama, suspense, treachery, betrayal, abduction, murder, death, imprisonment, hate, faith, hope, passion and love. This book is absolutely brilliant! Total masterpiece readers don‘t want to miss! 5 star review!

This was an emotional and deeply romantic second-chance romance with a pirate hero and an over-30, animal loving, spinster, heroine. While the romance is gripping, it is at times hard to believe they‘ll make their way to a happy ending. (TW for mentions of rape and abuse.) #tomantsy

You guys, if you're not familiar with the series you need to start asap. This story was a feast of heart-wrenching, emotive moments. We finally get to learn what drives the Rook and we get to see him get his more than deserved HEA.

robinb I don‘t think I‘ve ever read this author. What is the first in series here, please? 6y
DGRachel @robinb According to Goodreads, this is book 6 in the Victorian Rebels series (Penny Reid is hosting a giveaway on Facebook which is how I heard of it) and the first book is 6y
DGRachel @robinb I hadn‘t heard of her before, but the first book has good ratings on Goodreads and I love the title of this one, so I may have to splurge and give her a shot! 6y

robinb @DGRachel thanks! I have heard of her before, but I have tended to stick with my tried and true favorites where historical romance is concerned. Of course those tried and trues were once unknown to me as well! 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣 Think I‘ll add her to my list too. 👍 6y
DGRachel @robinb Yes. I‘ve only read a few historical romance authors. I find one I like and binge everything they‘ve ever written, just because the ones I tried and didn‘t like were so cringe-worthy that I am a little gun-shy, but I‘m really tempted by this author. 6y
robinb @DGRachel yes, it does look like she gets good reviews across the board. And yes, I‘ve run across some duds too. I like to watch for the ones my favorite authors recommend...they usually don‘t steer me wrong. 6y
DGRachel @robinb I‘m not loving my current reads/library books so I think I‘m going to grab The Highwayman today and give it a go. I‘m in that kind of a mood. 🤞🏻 6y
DGRachel (and @JoRead - sorry for highjacking your comment thread! 😂) 6y
robinb @DGRachel I‘ll look forward to hearing what you think! 😊 6y
JoRead @DGRachel Highjack away! 😉 @robinb I've only read this series by her and I've enjoyed every single one. I hope you two like it as much! 6y
robinb @JoRead thanks! 😊😉👍 6y

This was, hands down, the most emotionally powerful second chance romance that I have ever read. Furthermore, there was a captive-captor romance portion to this story and just to warn you, some possible triggers for sensitive readers. There were many moving moments during this story and I was blown away with just how deep my feelings went for these characters. ...….See the full review at www.thegenreminx.com #bookreviewer #TheGenreMinxBookReviews
